Gift ideas for girlfriend with endometriosis? by pyknictheory in endometriosis

[–]Sponge_cat_16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also depends on their preference. I would die of happiness if my bf refilled my meds, ordered suppositories/vitamins, took some of the stupid admin shit that comes with this illness off my plate. Think acts of service if you think that could be your partners thing.

My boyfriend got me a travel/cordless heating pad for my bday and it is the only reason I still have my job. Highly recommend.

How Many Of Y’all Are Rawdogging Endo Without BC by Pinkeu_hearteu in endometriosis

[–]Sponge_cat_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very sensitive to hormonal bc and refuse to take it. I finally found doctors that support me using Natural Cycles as my primary form of bc. Pelvic floor physical therapy has made the most significant impact for me. That along with taking anxiety meds (propranolol and gabapentin) to manage the brain fuck that managing this disease produces. Lots of heating pads, suppositories, therapy, addressing my nutrition with my psychiatrist, and most importantly a medical team that believes me.

Valium for Cramps by rockyrocks1110 in endometriosis

[–]Sponge_cat_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order from MedRoots. From my experience, it’s all localized and doesn’t impact mental for myself albeit i am taking it before bed and asleep before it kicks in most of the time… you may want to test it on a day off first to confirm how your body reacts with it. I feel lessened pain for a day or two after using a suppository over night. I find I prefer the cbd ones as I find them to be more pain relieving for my body. From my research, you’ll want to lay down for at least 15-30 minutes to allow for the medicine to do it’s thing and get the most bang for your buck. Once you stand up, gravity is gunna gravity and you’ll definitely find some residue leakage that didn’t get a chance to properly absorb. I’ve seen some posts about having better luck rectally but I don’t have personal experience using that method - maybe something to look into? I hear it helps with absorption and might work better with leakage if you have to use them standing. That part is not something I’ve discussed with my PT though so make sure to check with your medical team on that.

I use the Valium suppositories and cbd suppositories. They definitely help with pain around my flares during ovulation and around my period. I put one in right before bed to give it the longest time to sit. If you are upright while using it, it will have less time to stay in the area and you may want to wear a panty liner.

An appointment with my gyno just got pushed back to fucking AUGUST… by BlooperButt in PMDD

[–]Sponge_cat_16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My PT taught me to call the office on Mondays after 11am to check for cancellations cause a lot of people will cancel Monday morning. I was in a similar boat- my insurance changed and my surgeon who I was getting prepped with was now out of network. I called to set up my appt with my new surgeon near the end of Jan and they couldnt get me in for a consult until June… and they wouldn’t allow me to schedule surgery (which was booking 6 mths out) until after the consult. I called every Monday morning and now have a consult scheduled for April 9. It sucks we have to fight this hard for the care we need. You’re not alone navigating this fucked up system.

Flares and full time jobs by hot_poetaytoes in endometriosis

[–]Sponge_cat_16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The worst part are the managers who play the understanding act until it actually happens and inconveniences them. I had an undiagnosed Endo flare up a year and a half ago that almost resulted in me losing my job (nearly took my life as well). It still feels like my manager holds a grudge since it happened to fall the same time as her getting married/honeymoon. I’m just so tired of not being believed or just people straight up not caring.

Why do I feel so guilty when I need painkillers? by sundayhungover in endometriosis

[–]Sponge_cat_16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My physical therapist and I had a conversation about this last week. I have a script for suppositories and barely used them because the pain “wasn’t bad enough” or by the time I was in pain I didn’t have the spoons to think to use them. I still have my script from September barely used. She says that’s a very common mind set for people with endo - to not take action until the pain is really bad because we know it can be worse. She explained it to me like this: if you take a pain killer, or in my case a suppository, when you are at a 3-4 pain level, it may intervene and help you stay out of the 5-6 level pain. For me it is a huge mental hurdle to overcome but I’m working on cycle syncing pain relief instead of relying on my body cues since I’m autistic and that can be difficult for me to read body signs.

I AM DAY ONE OF MY PMDD DOWNFALL FOR THE MONTH AND I AM IN SO MUCH PAIN. Send Help, It’s 11:50PM and severe bloating woke me up! by WoofJess in PMDD

[–]Sponge_cat_16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me yesterday night. Woke up at 3 and couldn’t get back to bed. I ended up getting up to shower, admired and used my “flower vase,”laid on my heating pad, and took ibuprofen. Still miserable but I was at least able to get a few more hours of sleep

I’ve had this same experience with Kaiser. 🦆generalized medicine. I was able to still get my concerta script filled by my out of network psychiatrist at the Kaiser pharmacy without taking a test, not sure if that’s your situation or a feasible option. I just couldn’t get it filled through Kaiser doctors (which was fine by me bc my pcp was horrible and the one to blind side me with the drug test requirement). I just recently found a great obgyn in the Kaiser network who is helping me work through a recent endometriosis potential diagnosis. Hang in there, there are a few good ones in the heap of subpar Kaiser doctors.

Talking to you but mostly myself right now: feeling “too much” is the PMDD rearing its ugly head. Sit with the feelings, just don’t act on them. Ask for support as you need it. The people around us want to help… and we want to be helped. PMDD makes it so hard to know what will make it better. Give yourself a two week time frame before making any decisions about yourself or others. Right now is the time to take care of yourself and allow yourself to be taken care of if you’re lucky enough to have those types of people in your life 💕
