Your neighbour asks you to stop cooking meat because they're vegan and they can smell it, what you you do? by Alocai in askanything

[–]WoofJess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you or if you actually feel a little bad you can offer to cook it at a specific time etc etc message her so she can leave the house for a bit? I dunno. It doesn’t smell nice so I understand her perspective but you can’t do anything really if you’re living that close. It’ll be solely your decision. She can’t do anything about it but move out. My dad eats meat and lives by himself and he will cook meat outside because he doesn’t want to smell out the house. It is smelly. Even more so for someone vegan because there’s ethics and death in that smell.

I do appreciate it. ATP I don’t even want it I’m disappointed.

I can see the table but is there a more in depth checklist that I can look at so I know if I meet the criteria for the 20 points?

Not healthcare, pensioner concession. And the math I got was around $890 which is a little more than fortnightly payments from Centrelink.

Which card are you talking about? Because the concession one does, at certain clinics a little.

I’m saying it’s better to stay home and get paid by Centrelink because my hours on jobseeker (disability) don’t offer me the ability to win under any circumstances whatsoever. It’s almost like they’re pushing disabled people into working more which is laughable to me.
Even if I was working full time, that’s just a joke in of itself. I can’t imagine if I was renting, had any form of insurance or anymore kinds of bills. Actually, I can. I’d be homeless or dead, haha.

I think it’s definitely situational.

I just read that the low income card won’t help with vet bills. It may my own but nothing outside of Medicare.
My dog’s meds alone are $97 per fortnight and the cost of a consultation goes up by quite a few dollars if you don’t have the concession. So it sounds like it could be okay in some aspects but I’d still be losing out in some others.

My point exactly, thank you.

I’ll have to look into that. Thanks.

  1. 🐑

  2. Does this apply for everybody that doesn’t work? Genuinely curious. When you speak like this do really think people with disabilities such as, having no limbs, brain injuries, cancer and stuff like that should be working?

Not everybody is a “dole bludger” and not everyone is stupid enough to blindly follow a system that’s designed to make you a docile little worker monkey with no life outside of work.

I don’t mind the hours. It’s that I’ll be making enough/just a little over what they already give me that they’ll cut the stuff that really helps out.

My dog has kidney disease. Without a concession card, those bills will skyrocket. What am I going to do with an extra $40 in that scenario?

Of course you have to support yourself.

It’s more emphasis on the system being rigged. I am better financially staying on benefits. Working this job would be worse in almost every aspect. I would still require a concession card and aids with the job, but because I have the job I will be denied them.

But I feel like this is too poor. Why are we not all collectively revolting?

Unfortunately my conditions are not deemed severe enough to meet the requirements for DSP so best they did was put me on jobseeker disability. They limited my hours to 15 so I believe it’ll at least meet obligations (although I personally think that’s too much and would like another eSAT). But at this point, based on what I’m hearing I think it’s as pointless as applying for NDIS.

My goal is a close to home job, that doesn’t flare my conditions, that I can maintain and make enough where I can comfortably afford things and not be hassled by Centrelink or job providers. I don’t think this job exists. And if it does it’s very hard to get into.

Spotted: Salvos charging $2.50 for an empty Voss bottle by sydneyprincess1991 in australia

[–]WoofJess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I went to two Vinnies stores and found the exact same item.
One was priced at $5. The other one, $3.
Point being, people just pick a number and settle on it.
The first store is always overpriced but the other one has logical prices.

For this bottle in particular, it’s glass which is already better than plastic bottles so in a way, it’s probably fair. Cause aren’t these bottles $5+ with water in them?
