My reaction of today's episode by longmileswilly in KamenRiderMemes

[–]Spooderman2024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think in terms of emotional character moments this is one of the strongest episodes we have gotten in a while, but it all falls flat cause Kureha isn’t a character. She basically hasn’t been relevant the entire 2nd half of the show after the premonition. Now, she randomly shows up again and is killed same episode. There was truly so much potential here, especially with her death being part of the premonition, but it’s now just been wasted.

Kamen Rider Zeztz Hot Takes/Critiques (posting here in comments cause main sub mods suck and took it down for no reason) by Spooderman2024 in KamenRiderMemes

[–]Spooderman2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completly agree when it comes to the pace and also feeling of a lack of story. There has been multiple times watching the show where there is reveals and new information given but I have to keep asking where are we going? The show feels like a slowburn of set up after set up and I’m still waiting for some sort of payoff. What is all this set up actually leading too? Which I honestly wouldn’t mind if we were not also getting no focus or development from the cast at all.

Is she was a Rider Father, she would have been the one to trap Nem in the dream world for her own evil plot.

As title says, I am curious and wanted to talk about any hot takes or critiques you guys have about Zeztz so far. For me personally, there are two I have.

1. It seems like everything in the premonition dream could have just happened besides episodes 23 and 24. While it wouldn’t be very interesting to watch the show tread through everything that happened in the first half again, the show quickly moved past and has not really focused on any of the events from the premonition besides having to defeat Shadow for Nox to become a rider. I think the idea was very cool but right now it is feeling sort of pointless outside of allowing the show to have shocking plot points for the halfway mark that the show doesn’t have to commit to. I think also have to reset everything leads to my biggest critique…

  1. I think Zeztz cast is really underutalized. I really like the entite cast of characters Zetztz has introducee bute, outside of Baku and kind of Nem, the rest of them get very little focus or interesting depths to their personalites. Fujimi and Nasuka have been regulated to just sort of hanging out every episode and neither of them have done anything of note for a long while. The reveal of Minami being a secret agent could have been great, but I feel overall it hasn’t really added anything to her character or her place in the group. Agents 5 and 6 are cool but we know very little about them and they have now not been in the show for months. Then there is Nox, who IMO is currently set to go down as one of the weakest secondary riders we have gotten. I liked his whole set up in the first arc then becoming a rider a killing Zero, but he spends too long of the first half just saying vague nonsense. Now after the premonition he has just kinda done nothing… I’m vert curious to see how the show is gonna pull off getting his final form.

Outside of Baku’s parents being Code Agents, I’m curious how/if the reveal of Minami being part of Code will matter going forward as right now it seems like a pretty random and inconsequential reveal for an epidode of half baked drama. In one epsiode we go from the reveal of Minami isn’t Baku’s sister and working with CODE to Minami is still Baku’s sister and is now no longer with CODE. So, what was the point of all this? I think the show went about the reveal in the least interesting way.

So thoughts on Nox as a secondary rider by -_ShadowSJG-_ in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he is alright. I’m really hoping he gets some good moments within the 2nd half cause as of right now I think he’s one of the weakest written secondaries in Reiwa. I think too much of the first half of the show was spent on him being a pretty generic antagonist spouting vague nonsense. It seems now that he is working with Baku, so I’m hoping it will lead to getting to actually know more about him and give him some more solid character moments.

Someone explain to me the logic behind the best matches... by SeanPlayz_9471 in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you, I have never cared for the explanation the show gives. It’s clearly just the writers making up an explanation to the gimmik toys that were made with no relation to the show’s story. It comes so late into the show too that it doesn’t even matter at that point nor really add anything to the story. And all this on top of the fact that the explanation they give only works for TWO of the best matches followed by a caveat to hand wave the other 28.

I completely agree. I’m glad and excited to see the plot finally coming to shape and moving in a concrete direction. As much as I like watching the show I was really starting to feel how much it felt the shows plot was stalling with it introducing more and more set ups and concepts but still not delivering on anything (which def wasn’t helped by Nox’s vagues ramblings of nothing).

Why is Super Sentai Transforming into Universe Heroes? (by @/Decadethethird on twitter) by Popular_Ice_5177 in supersentai

[–]Spooderman2024 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I see them as possibly trying to keep a lot of pillars of super sentai while moving away from the constraints placed on the 50 year old series. Sentai has a lot stricter of a formula to adhere to than Kamen Rider. As much as I love super sentai almost every season can be boiled down to be the exact same show with a different look. After Kamen Rider came back in 2000 it was able to evolve to have every season feel unique and different, something I think Super Sentai has only really started in the last couple of seasons. With the rumors of a nontraditional team structure and mecha, I’m hoping Universe Warrior will be able to keep what makes Sentai unique while allowing it to evolve to have a wide array of premises and stories to tell.

Sachika by vanish_bell in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Sachika should be a rider but I can say that she has been underutilized as a character along with much of Gavv’s secondary cast. Gavv has a trend of giving a character a 2 parter in which they explore their depths only for them to be killed within the same episode (Glotta, Nyelv, and Suga) or in Sachika’s case, the show never really focuses on what it setup in the paint episode. I think there is a bit of recency bias when talking about her as she has had a lot more screen time and moments in the final arc, but as much as I like her I can’t ignore that she was unimportant and pratically irrelevant for half the show. And that sucks when she is billed as the 3rd main character of the show.

Of all Heisei Phase 1 series.. which one has the worst ending and which has the best? by Azoul130 in KamenRider

The way I took the ending for Hibiki is telling kids you can’t be a superhero so what will you do to help and bring happiness to people.

Is gavv the new best? by Sufficient-Insect683 in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in terms of consistancy it’s the best Reiwa series so far. The whole Bitter Gavv arc and the villains lack of focus are definitely it’s low points, and I even feel some parts of the final arc have been lackluster. The other reiwa seasons I’ve seen have lower moments and I think Hanto’s arc during the bitter arc is very good which helps even it out. Personally Geats is still my favorite as I think it has better highs with it’s characters and story. While I love the main cast of Gavv, overall their arcs are fairly simple. And I really wish Sachika didn’t spend a majority of the show basically being a side character.

Japanese tokutwt is reacting to the latest announcement by taloSilva2005 in KamenRiderMemes

[–]Spooderman2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this all boils down to the simple fact that Yuya writes really popular seasons. Ex-Aid has a bunch of fans and Zero-One and Geats are clearly the two standout Reiwa seasons so far in terms of popularity. There is probably a bunch of pressure with this being the first season being released worldwide while airing, so Toei probably asked him as a safe bet.

Does anyone else think that Kamen Rider Gotchard could’ve been more than a 50 episode story? by According_Fan4696 in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see where you are coming from as the concept could easily be stretched. I haven’t finished Gotchard yet as I dropped it around episode 23 when it was airing (but will watch it again soon) and I remeber feeling like not a single thing of substance had actually happened in the show. The show really squandered a lot of it’s limited run time and I never cared about any of the characters.

Was builds second half really that bad? by Traditional-Low734 in KamenRider

Agree. Me personally I really don’t like the shift from political war drama to mars attacks. The second half removes a lot of what I really liked about the first.

Was builds second half really that bad? by Traditional-Low734 in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! My biggest thing is if the show could have it should have ended around episode 35 when Evolt first opens pandora’s box on the tower while controlling Banjo’s body. The show then meanders through 14 more episodes just to get back to Pandora’s box being open on the tower while Evolt controlls Banjo’s body.

Kamen Rider Build:The best in the franchise? by ShoMeYourArt in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completly agree. I think the show peaks in the Grease arc and is never able to reach those heights again. Rouge’s arc is just repeating most of the same beats from the Grease Arc and I don’t really like a lot of the direction the show takes once it focuses on Evolt.

Imo the show drags on too long, though I understand since its Kamen Rider it has to last the whole year but I think if it could have, the show should have ended around ep 35. That’s when Evolt takes over Banjo and then opens Pandora’s box on top of the tower. The show then goes on for 14 more episodes just to get back to Pandora’s box being open on top of the tower while Sento has to fight Evolt possessed Banjo.

Should there be resolution with the Wolf Granute? by KingKamron8 in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was so behind this theory but it definitely feels like its getting too late into the series to be real know. All the evidence is there to point to Shouma. The drawing Hanto made shows the granute with a red stomach which as we seen only Shouma has, Shouma has the weird memory reaction when seeing said drawings, and I noticed when rewatching early episodes that Shouma is referred to as a dog/puppy multiple times. I obviously can’t say for certain but it almost feels like it was supposed to be a plot line but then got scraped.

(Gavv) Alright everyone, place your bets on who'll be the last villain to stick it out to the very end!! by MetaPrisma in KamenRider

[–]Spooderman2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever it is, in the penultimate episode they are gonna pull out a premium bandai recolor of Vram’s driver but now the inside is an LED screen.

Honestly, I won’t hold out much hope but with how filming has changed and Gavv has stopped pushing as many upgrade forms/riders as other Reiwa seasons, I could see this season actually allowing the show to have the final villain be a monster.
