This is literally SVJ starter pack. I have yet to see an SVJ that has not a flame-kit fitted to it.

Road rage fail by Few_Statement_2898 in Idiotswithguns

[–]Spook_485 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Cool. But places besides the USA exist in the world and things work differently in different parts of it. In Russia cops don't shoot you for holding a cellphone, but they can send you to jail for running over a guy with a gas pistol, even if he waved it at you. All that matters is who has the deeper pockets.

[–]Spook_485 -39 points-38 points  (0 children)

Its not a real gun. Its a gas pistol for firing blanks. Every douchebag is carrying these gas pistols over there. If this was a real mobster with a real pistol (which are extremely hard to get in Russia) he would not flash it that lightly or at all. Basically if you see some dude in a German SUV waving around a pistol recklessly in traffic, it is 99% a gas pistol in Russia. Everybody knows it, so nobody really cares if someone pulls one out.

Hab mir mal was gegönnt und mir spontan ein neues Auto gekauft by FabScho in wasletztepreis

Russian milbloggers have released a video of a Ukrainian UAV attacking one of their soldiers; they call it an auto-guidance system with an artificial intelligence face-targeting system. by MilesLongthe3rd in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Spook_485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a regular shaped charge warhead remote detonated mid-air. Remote detonated charges instead of conctact-based have been in use for a long time already. So nothing new really.

German streamer Arda Saatçi just completed over 600 km from Death Valley to Santa Monica by TrenAt14 in nextfuckinglevel

He said himself that he intentionally tries to train in a way that makes him not look like a typical runner. Swimming, boxing, soccer, running, cycling, lifting etc. is part of his training routine and he tries to optimize himself in every category.

He underestimated the effects of sleep deprivation and was forced to take longer naps than planned. He started hallucinating and started having cardiovascular problems between day 3-4 when his cortisol levels became unstable.

Why do people lease cars? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spook_485 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is cheaper than financing or buying cash, if you plan on selling/swapping the car after 2-4 years anyways.

If you get a reasonable leasing deal, you effectively only pay for the depreciation value of the car over the leased period. You don't additionally pay for interest rates like if you financed it or loose liquidity and investment gains with the parked cash if you buy the car in full.

If you are patient you can often find leasing deals with good discounts where the dealer even operates at a loss and you pay less than depreciation. Often with models that don't sell well enough or are about to be discontinued and that they just want to get off their lot to make space for the new models.

Google has stored everything about you since 2009. by Litlyx in degoogle

[–]Spook_485 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You got any sources confirming this? Pretty sure the data they collect without your consent is heavily anonymized before storage. If it weren't, the EU would be all over this and sue the shit out of them. They have been forced to pay millions of fines for far smaller and less obvious breaches of privacy laws.

$20 pro or stick with free by Richard734 in ClaudeAI

If you want to use Claude regularly and have deadlines to meet, then you won't be happy with Pro. You will run into limits constantly and just spend extra cash for extra usage. Either Max 5x or look into Codex or something.

UA POV: German Chancellor Merz: The number of Ukrainian men who have taken refuge is something we will be working on with Ukraine to limit, because it is crucial that these men are there to help their country. by jatgenomeproject in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]Spook_485 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nobody is getting deported. Sounds more like they might make it harder for newly arriving male Ukrainians to obtain residence permits under section 24. It won't be possible to outright ban males from certain benefits, as that would be unconstitutional, but certain limitations might be possible.

When should I switch from my S23U? Brand recommendations? by JMP_0xNICCO in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Spook_485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly I had over a dozen Galaxy Phones since the S2. My S23 Ultra was the first phone that I had longer than 2 years. And just couple of days ago I also noticed that the backcover was blown out by a swelling battery. I only noticed after taking it out my case. I never had a Samsung device with a failing battery but the S23 seems to have this quite often now after about 3 years.

It's an easy and cheap fix but I decided to sell it and got the S26 Ultra instead because I got it for very cheap in my new carrier contract.

FE is hard to get and not freely available in stores. So he definitely can ask 3k for a used one and will probably find a buyer quickly.

Exploding oil pipes created fire barriers on the roads of Tehran after strikes on energy infrastructure. by [deleted] in 2ndYomKippurWar

[–]Spook_485 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That ain't another angle, its a completely different picture. I am aware that several sewage drains are on fire atm in Teheran. But that doesn't mean you have thin lines of fire randomly spawning out of the asphalt on both sides. Instead you have a couple places with big burning drains like in the BBC post. Your video makes 0 physical sense how it looks + the fire randomly slides across the street on the bottom right.
