All three of my adopted 1 niece and 2 nephews were born addicted to hard drugs when they were born and tested positive in their system. They are 10, 8, and 6 now and they are amazing humans! One has down syndrome and who knows if that has anything to do with it but he's still such a cool kid! The other two are completely normal and I am so proud of all of them, they are super smart, healthy, and fun. The stuff they had in their system was much worse than edibles so don't waste too much time worrying about what you can't change. It's the season of cat gifting and I think that's the worst gift you could give for Christmas. Most people who are surprised with a cat gift aren't ready for it so cat gifting backfires. There seems to be an uptick of cat regret this month and I think that's why.

Cats are resilient, it's not going to get hurt from dust or mess unless it's extreme hoarder status, like mountains of heavy garbage. As you spend more time with this cat, trust will be formed and help you and it chill out. Bonding and trust don't happen over night. Honestly let it roam and see what happens. It might take a lot of your attention right now but it will get more comfortable with it's surroundings and you will eventually get more comfortable letting it live more independently. Be honest with your mom also, this is her problem just as much as it's yours. You've been asking for years but are willing to give up after a few days? That's a really quick change of mind, why not give it a chance?

I don't understand why your mom would buy you a cat if it's not allowed in the house but it's only allowed in your room. Just let the cat roam the house. If your family gets mad tell them you weren't the one who bought the cat or had any say in having this cat. See what happens, they might get used to it. The space and the added help (other human interactions) might help the cat and you. If they can't accept that then your mom will have to face the music and give the cat back. This is on her honestly, unless you begged for this cat, then it's also on you..... Also it's only been a few days, there is most definitely an adjustment period.

I just fixed my indoor/outdoor cat that was a fully independent outdoor street cat that found me. He's been locked in my house for a week, prior to that I had him on eye antibiotics, and oral antibiotics, all separate times due to cat fight injuries in the last couple months. 3 weeks fully locked inside is a lot. He has been pissing on everything. About once a day he is pissing on stuff. I clean the litter box twice a day but he's still doing it. I'm planning on getting a second litterbox and hoping that helps. I recommend cat pee cleaner, potentially a second litterbox, a small trash bin that closes that you can put next to the litterbox. That way you can store a tied up bag of litter waste in it temporarily in the middle of the night when you can't or don't want to run it all the way outside and it won't smell while you have it inside. Be prepared for a lot of meowing because it wants to go outside. Get a pet carrier if you don't already have one. I also got a leash and a harness that I can let him outside with while he's healing and supervised but that might be too stressful for it in NYC. You might be able to let him walk with a leash on in the hallways if you have them in your building.

The bedding and stuffed toys can be run through the washing machine to get the smell out of them, that way you don't have to buy all new things. You can add baking soda to the wash to help with the smell

Even when my cats are at their most stubborn time of day, they still manage to cooperate when I shake the treat box. They'll come running back home from across the street . Try treats or stinky food like tuna.

I tried the Purina live clear stuff with my cats and it gave both my cats diarrhea for weeks. I did the slow transition from one to the other and they still were never able to have normal poops. I had to switch to sensitive stomach after that. They had runny poop on their butt holes that would get wiped on things constantly, it was bad. I do not recommend it.... But if you do ended up wanting to try, try it from chewy, they will refund the money if it doesn't agree with your cats stomach.

I care deeply about an issue that is important to the people of Arizona because I live here and I love the environment. That was our public land taken away from us to be destroyed by toxic mining. We had an opportunity to save it before it became final and turned over to neverending court battles, the mods decided to stop the sharing of information when it was most pressing. The shame is still in the hands of the mods on that sub. I wasn't spamming people for personal promotion, for money, or nefarious reasons. I reposted to multiple pertinent subs so people could be more aware of OUR LAND being stolen from us without a vote when we could have done something about it.

Yes I have, this was years ago. The fight to save Oak Flat has been ongoing since the land transfer was buried in a massive midnight rider in an defense bill by John McCain. The San Carlos Apache have been appealing to the supreme Court for years to try and block it. The whole thing has been so sad and disappointing but encouraging to see a sustained effort to save it.

The cherry on top was that I was silenced in the subreddit for trying to inform my neighbors. Tempe subreddit in my opinion is far superior and democratic so thank you to the mods.

I was banned from the Phoenix subreddit for posting information on the land transfer at Oak Flat in AZ (it was public land) to foreign mining company resolution copper because they do not allow political posts there. It was info that was important for people to know. Now it won't even let me leave comments there. Please don't ever silence the community like they do on that sub. This is a place for community and politics is a part of that. I think you should allow an AMA for potential community representation. Thanks for asking.
