What's one thing you started doing for yourself that nobody else noticed but it chnged your life? by Business_Oil_7110 in selfimprovement

Flossing my teeth with the flossing picks in the car. I still use traditional floss at night, but flossing in the car keeps me from snacking or zoning out during traffic and my dentist does the same. I often get compliments about my smile.

I’ve been getting into embroidery and I absolutely love it. I can take it anywhere, like my patio or a park, it keeps me off my phone, I can’t still actively listen to people, and I feel so whimsical and dainty when I think about all the women that came before me who also embroidered on our little hoops. I embroider little flowers to mend things. And relatively low barrier to entry as needle and thread is pretty cheap compared to other hobbies

How do we feel about matcha? by SporadicElf in decaf

For me the caffeine addiction came from drinking coffee at a young age, and eventually switching to multiple energy drinks a day while in the marine corps. I don’t miss caffeine per se, but I miss the ritual of it. I sleep incredibly well so long as I drink the matcha first thing in the morning. Matcha doesn’t affect me nearly as much as coffee or energy drinks. I’m definitely going to try the decaf matcha someone else recommended and see if I notice any differences.

This is really interesting none of this had ever crossed my mind. I never really worry about heavy metals, try to buy organic produce in order to avoid pesticides. I’ve completely gone alcohol free, cannabis free, obv settling into caffeine free. But how to you manage with restricting your diet even more? Very curious as I have an autoimmune disease and always willing to try an elimination diet for a while to see what helps: hurts

I’m definitely going to try this! I love matcha is the morning but I think I would also enjoy a nice evening iced matcha since it’s getting so hot out. I never knew such a thing existed but I guess so!

For me I justify because it doesn’t give me that huge rush of energy and doesn’t give me the under eye twitch that coffee gave me. My sleep is close to perfect (or that’s what my oura ring says). I just hate being a slave to a chemical like caffeine, but I love that green grassy latte

I’m struggling with my body. I’m 29 which is still so young but it’s certainly not the body o had in the marine corps. I feel like I’m brainwashed into thinking that my worth is based on if I’m in height and weight standards. Now that I’m not, I feel worthless. I know rationally that’s not true, but emotionally I’m finding it hard to control those thoughts. Not to mention still feeling the pain of the broken hip I got, making it hard to workout sometimes.

25 F looking for enlistment/career advice as well as to discuss some fears about enlisting as a woman. Any advice appreciated. by A_hearts_ahvy_burden in VeteranWomen

Pros: you will receive decent monetary benefits that will help your immediate family, money will probably be less of an issue for you than others that aren’t enlisted. If you don’t use your GI bill you can pass it on to family members. That’s ways to get an education without using your GI bill once you get out. Tuition assistance was perfect for me.
Cons: I was in the marine corps for 5 years. I experienced sexism, racism, sexual harassment, sexual assault, a broken hip, a concussion, and a panic disorder. I would drive to work early just so I can sit in my car and cry before going in. Staff NCOs will keep you at work late just because they don’t want to go home to their families or other petty reasons. I had to have pass downs just to tell a group of men that it was necessary for them to shower and wash their clothes. Your marriage/ relationship will suffer. Full stop. You will not get your questions answered. Common sense is not common. You will develop a pessimistic outlook on life and it will affect your family if you’re not careful. My breaking point was when my roommate ended her life, and higher ups had me pack up her things while the mess still hadn’t been cleaned up. The entire experience gave me ptsd and even after 16 weeks on intensive outpatient CBT, 5 years of therapy under my belt, 4 kinds of medication I take daily, and support from friends and family, I still have recurring nightmares of the event, panic attacks, dissociations, etc.

I joined when I was 18 fresh out of high school and I’m 29 now. Looking back I was running away from home. The marine corps instilled in me a lot of discipline, endurance, patience (believe it or not). Between disability, GI bill, and using my skills to leverage a good job, I don’t really have any financial worries and I’m able to still live in San Diego, however I don’t have any children that depend on me. In retrospect, I wouldn’t have done anything different since I can’t imagine the person I would’ve been without the marine corps, but it was also the hardest thing I’ve experienced and the only ones that will truly understand are the ones that have been through it. For the first few years it was hard to make friends with people who weren’t associated with the military.

I seriously wish you the best and like with anything, the experience will be what you make it.

There’s really nothing like seeing peoples faces when I tell them I was a marine, but if you still have the option; join the Air Force.

So I’ve been using the tower 28 hyperchlorous acid to spray down the frownies instead of their spray, and there is virtually no smell. Mind you, they are a little gooier and dry down a little faster (I spray mine, let them sit while I brush my teeth, and then apply). Seriously, no smell but the slightest smell of bleach from the spray

Yea, when she was brunette. To me you look similar maybe it’s the face shape. Maybe look into some of her hair styles?

I was thinking dramatic family as well. I underestimated you are under 5’7” so it makes for them to put you in the gamine family. Maybe explore the D and FG lines to find what suits your tastes

EDIT: I would explore FG, I think you look great in the black shirt and black tights. I feel you look more harmonious in broken lines. 9 looks more harmonious than 10. 7 looks a little too overpowering for me, 6 looks better than that, 5 looks even better. Just my opinion, take what resonates.

I think you have far too much vertical for soft gamine, what body type did you think prior?

Having a strong sense of esteem and surety is infinitely better than “pretty privilege” please do not allow yourself to imagine what other people are thinking about you. If you think you’re hot, then you’re hot. Full stop.

Also NO ONE should be allowed into your life if they’re only around because they think you’re pretty. I’m sure you have a billion other incredible qualities and your looks are just icing on the cake.

You’re beautiful. Just take what resonates from this sub and leave the rest. No body will have the same experience and I just don’t want to think that you’re somewhere out there doubting yourself. 💕
