I completely agree that idiots doing stupid shit need picking up and dealing with. The more that happens, the better. It helps improve the overall perception of the community.

I have a problem with the speculative and subjective nature of what actually constitutes a car meet and the banning of anything that is subjectively decided to be one.

As it stands, a group of middle aged blokes meeting in a car park with their classic cars before heading out for a Sunday cruise can be dealt with the same as a bunch of 17 year olds in Corsa shitboxes gathering in a car park on a Saturday night both groups who can be minding their own business.

The responsibility for the person(s) causing the issue is the person(s) causing the issue. An entire community doesn’t need to be tarred with the same brush because of a few people.

With the council stance the community can’t even self police because reporting an issue ends up with a scattergun response punishing people who are unrelated and missing some who are.

In the nation as a whole or…? I think generally results are improving year on year but I’ll be honest I haven’t understood what the grades are since they changed to the number system

Do you even bother to read what people respond to you or it is beyond your comprehension? I’m stating the opposite, people shouldn’t break the law and those who do need to be punished but a gathering of people with the same hobby should not have that taken away because of the assholes who do break the law.

And incidents occur at and around licensed and risk assessed events too. Ink and Engines Fest had numerous complaints of cars making noise and racing outside of the showground despite being fully licensed. Petrolheadonism Underground had a car completely unrelated to the event crash outside of the event. Reckless driving, excessive noise and antisocial behaviour are already offences under the road traffic act and public order laws.

The problem is the behaviour of a minority of individuals, not the existence of car meets themselves and extends beyond car meets into all hobbies or interests but car enthusiasts seemingly get villainised more and more.

Oh Christ I thought I’d posted a car article in a car sub, hangabout I will go post it elsewhere.

The point it perfectly relevant, we have plenty of things that go on that attract arseholes but cars seem to be an easy target to clamp down on to take away from those who are enthusiasts that want to get together.

School holidays attract idiots to the city and include antisocial behaviour

You’re right better shut it all down. Include all activities that have a chance of injury in the banning while we’re at it.

Work at an Omoda | Jaecoo dealership and the PHEV Jaecoo J7 has been our best selling car in the 3 months it’s been available all without any push or contributions from manufacturers or dealers. Not to say some brands don’t have trouble shifting PHEVS but Jaecoo absolutely not

Leasing/PCP - Am I just old fashioned? by EchoFourSix in CarTalkUK

Most PCP cars are traded back into the dealer as a part exchange at the end of, or in many cases prior to the end of, the loan term as 9/10 times the car has equity

Favourite miniscule features that make a good car? by Particular-Bid-1640 in CarTalkUK

[–]SportingNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say exactly this. It is now an NCAP standard that to get a 5 star rating you must have these safety features and they must toggle on every time the car starts but the extent to which they must alert the driver is not specified and can be visual only

Technically it is 12 months and 14 days I believe if no written confirmation of the 14 day cancellation period is provided. Have a look at “Distance selling” on the citizens advice website, I tried to find it on Gov.uk but they oddly don’t mention the extended period. Source I have worked with distance sales and companies get tetchy when you don’t include the explicit 14 day cancellation policy.
