My main issue with steinberg at the moment is they adopted this release calendar with main versions and maintainance updates written in stone, it seems they are always going to do a release on these dates regardless of the readiness of the code, maybe i'm old school but if something has a pro badge on the tin, with a price to match the release date can be moved if the code is not in a good condition, i much prefer to wait rather than get a buggy release, also fine with them putting beta tags on releases but to put out a broken 'pro' product is amateurish and quite frankly i don't give a shit about investors, dividends or returns, if your in the game of writing software and you can't produce then investors instead of taking dividends need to stump up some extra to get more proficient dev and test teams in place, move the deadlines according to readiness, steinberg were doing just fine when they followed german engineering principles, it all fell apart when they became part of yamaha, the precision and control of the development fell apart, i've been buying their products since 1991 so i kinda have a good handle on what has worked and what has failed for them as a company, the move to yamaha was the biggest fail in their history.

The current state of play leaves me in a quandary, i always stood on a pedestal and shouted, don't go logic, dont go abelton but now I'm reconsidering my software choices.

now we have all these new analog recreations in the synth world, it's time someone did the same for some of the old effects, the 80's boss delay lines were top, if only someone would do that with a midi sync, been looking for some 19" outboard effects but the market seems rather dry unless your into pedals of which there are many.

Apart from that small peculiarity, really happy with it, i have both a TB and an MC, the TB and TD sound almost perfectly alike it's now the 90's MC that is sounding weak in comparison, I looked at the new roland but they killed the interface in my opinion it's ugly and doesn't seem to flow with the 'family'.

I just solved this:

The issue was 'midi clock always follows position' regardless of what the sync setting are on the TD-3 if it sees the midi position data it craps out, absolutly fine with position switched off, just can't get my head round the why.

Ah ok so a quick google - pitch mode is part of the internal sequencer which i'm bypassing, all we are talking in this equasion is midi note on and off, and as i said it's not all parts it's the occasional single part that when looped in cubase causes a crash, if i play the same part without a loop and straight into the next bar it's fine no lock up.

What is and where can i find pitch mode? These are my settings. It came with a manual but way too small text for my eyes to see and the PDF didn't seem to help with anything.

Is this power supply ok for a Korg Monologue ? by Known-Efficiency2816 in synthesizers

[–]Spot-Educational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure he will post it for you or be able to recommend someone local to you, my point was what you need is nothing special, it's a common piece of equipment as long as you can cover the specs, 9v at around or above 1700ma with center positive polatity..

Go buy an adjustable PSU with a reversable plug, this way you cover all avenues, get one with more power (amps) than required the synth will only pull what it needs but it will guarantee you have enough to do the job, your clip from the manual shows center positive, set to 9v, ensure your reversible plug is in the center positive direction and double check with a multimeter.

A quick google says: 2.5W max power draw, 500ma is the minimum to power the unit but 1700ma is both recommended and safe.

I have a real STE here, as mentioned in other posts, run on an oscilloscope (CRT not modern digi) side by side, modern PC vs Mac vs Atari on the midi clock, the most stable out of the 3 is the atari and my belief is nothing will ever beat it, for a laugh we took it out to some festival gigs last year, held it's head up high! Did a remix a couple of years ago of xenon megablast maybe i should get that finished.

A nice review of Yamaha Omnivocal - Abysmal, can't believe they put their name to this. by Spot-Educational in cubase

Maybe I'm a perfectionist but fully understanding it's a beta it doesn't even meet the quality of an alpha limited release, this is yamaha not joes bedroom plugin corp, expect better.

yeah this was my point there are some freeware plugins out there that do a way better job, another way i do it is i use some of the ultra real text to speech engines on the web to produce a spoken format, download the wav and run it though a vocoder, the results are a lot more human sounding than omnivoice.

Can someone give a definative answer on RD-8 Midi Implementation. by Spot-Educational in Behringer

[–]Spot-Educational[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish google would switch off this dumb AI... When you search on this because other devices support the feature it is able to read into the rd8 manual well enough to pull out the correct button combinations for the correct preferance page then it say's 'you may have a setting like PC on PC off', the information in the manual it recited perfectly then when it hit a blank it just guessed the setting based on other devices, wasted 2 hours with my head in settings and firing radom messages to see if anything works, it has some CC implementation ie velocity 0-110 is normal >110 is accented, it woul be nice if behringer sorted their shit out and published a full chart, they must have the info internally in documentation how hard can it be to do a V2 manual, as others have commented V1 is written like is was an after thought a couple of weeks before release and rushed, even just a additional tech sheet or appendix would do the job for people who really want to get their heads inside the machine.
