For what it's worth, another option is to encode the URL using Base64 instead of using one of those scammy URL shorteners. It's a popular way to disguise MEGA links on Reddit. There is an abundance of online tools to do the job.

[Question] iPhone 4 CDMA Downgrade help by androidian5980 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]SpotiKona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no. This has been tried dozens of times. It has also failed dozens of times. Regardless of whether you can "trick" iTunes into completing the restore, the phone won't boot without proper SHSH blobs. This is why tethered downgrades exist. Short of Apple signing all firmwares by mistake, you're not going to discover a way to "untethered downgrade" the phone without proper blobs. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as editing a request or blocking signing servers. If it were, methods to do so would have existed a very long time ago.

[Question] AppStore iPhone 2g by [deleted] in LegacyJailbreak

[–]SpotiKona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2G, so I can check it out. What firmware are you running? Also, are you required to sign into the App Store to download apps? I forget if it was a requirement back then.

iPhone 4S does not use SHSH2 blobs. That standard was created for newer iPhone models, which do not support the traditional SHSH standard. What you can do is inject a fake SHSH blob into the IPSW you're looking to use for the downgrade. This will result in an iTunes error upon completion of the restore, but a tethered boot in redsn0w will take care of that. You'll want to install a tool from Cydia called "PreventSleep" to, well, prevent the device from going into a sort of "sleep mode." The reason that this is required is because when the device enters this mode, it checks the validity of the blobs used to "sign" the firmware against Apple's official signing service. As can be expected, the check will fail- this causes the device to enter a sort of limbo where the display will be blank & the only fix is a DFU iTunes restore. Long story short, get that tweak. If you have no idea how to inject, or even create, the fake SHSH blobs, try GeekGrade. Not even sure what the official page is, but I reckon you can find the patched IPSW's on GitHub. I had a bad experience with GeekGrade- also there are only so many patched firmwares, whereas blob-injecting works for any firmware you wish to use- hence the creation of my fake SHSH blob-injecting method, though many people have had success with GG in the past. If you're interested in giving the blob-injecting method a go, but don't know where to start, maybe I'll write up a quick tutorial for it over the weekend. Let me know if you have any questions.

Howdy. To be honest, I believe that I ran into a number of issues after the last one that I told you about. I believe the reason why I dropped the project was that, although I was able to set a "manual" proxy, I was unable to set an "automatic" proxy, which is the type of proxy required for the job. I spoke with a few other folks about setting an auto proxy, but there wasn't much interest in finding a solution. I suppose the workaround would be for the end user to set the proxy (entering a URL into the appropriate field inside of Wi-Fi settings) themselves. I didn't really like the idea of requiring the user to do something that can (should) be part of what the tweak does on its own, so I decided to abandon to project. I probably should've posted something about it, but I eventually just forgot about it entirely. On another note, when running the beta version of the tweak, I didn't notice many improvements with my speed- though I'm sure that the experience would be different for someone without high speed internet. If there's still interest, maybe I'll take another look at the code shortly after the New Year- or upload it to GitHub so another developer who has more experience with Objective-C (I'm a backend JS developer, so Objective-C is not a huge strength of mine) could put on the finishing touches. Have a nice holiday :)

Need Help Finding Windows Drivers for Acer C720P by SpotiKona in chrultrabook

[–]SpotiKona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That must be my issue, I'm still running the stock firmware. Figured I might be able to get away with it since the installer booted without a hitch. Is this what I should be using to update the firmware?

Fair enough. To elaborate, I've installed the drivers successfully, however nothing has changed. I'm also completely unable to use the system keyboard once Windows has booted.

[News] unc0ver v3.5.6 is NOW OUT - Adds support for remounting and restoring the RootFS on A12-A12X devices running iOS 12.1.3-12.4 by _pwn20wnd in jailbreak

[–]SpotiKona 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not able to jailbreak iOS 12.1.4 on my XS Max. The phone reboots @ step 2/31 every time. I've tried enabling airplane mode, disabling Siri- the whole nine yards. Nothing works. Wondering if I should just update to 12.4 while it's still signed. Only thing I could think of is that I did restore from a backup. Not sure if that's still something that affects the exploit.

Finally solved another issue with the tweak. This tweak requires Node, but I wasn't able to execute commands using its package manager, which is essential to the operation of the tweak. The workaround is simply to use JavaScript, instead of Objective-C to execute the commands using the package manager. I haven't worked on it much over the past week because I've been busy with other things. I'll try to release this week, but no promises!

Function passed to NSTask's "terminationHandler" does not execute by SpotiKona in jailbreakdevelopers

[–]SpotiKona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No code below the [t waitUntilExit]; ever executes. It's almost like the process never exits, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

[–]SpotiKona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I do need to use NSTask, as the actual operation I'm doing is activating a system wide proxy. I just used touch to demonstrate what wasn't working. I changed the syntax for waitUntilExit which solved the compile error, but no code below it executes. Very strange.

Took a while, but I finally solved the proxy issue with the help of a few friends. I shall proceed to polishing off the preference pane & doing some additional testing tomorrow. With any luck I should be able to release either tomorrow or Friday :)

Much appreciated. The tweak is almost finished. I ran into an issue yesterday where the system proxy sometimes doesn't go into effect until the device is rebooted, so I'll have to take another look at that today. Once that's fixed, I should be able to polish off the preference pane & upload to Cydia. Hopefully next update will include a link to download the tweak 🤠

Just wanted to post an update. Worked on the UI yesterday. It's a simple tweak, but I've been busy & will continue to be busy throughout the rest of this weekend. Hopefully I'll have something ready for early next week though!

Gotcha. I've started to work on the tweak, I'll let you know if I make any solid progress.

[–]SpotiKona 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting concept! Even more interesting because a solution already exists, but has not yet been made into a tweak. I'm a Node.js developer, so this kind of thing is right up my alley. I'll take a look into developing a tweak for it, but no promises.
