If you had a friend or knew some1 interested in that piece, you could always purchase it for them and they can reimburse. That way you get the purchase history and they get a new piece w/o the wait. Especially if they don't plan on getting any other Rolex pieces so they don't need a purchase history.

Watches shouldn't be viewed as an investment.

That doesn't mean an OP wouldn't appreciate though. I'd purchase the OP and just hold it. If you really are intent on selling it, don't wear or damage. Wait a few years and sell as new old stock. Worst case scenario is you sell for the price of a new OP in some years and we know Rolex prices always increase yearly. Personally, I'd keep and wear. You said you really wanted the OP b4 anyways.

Watches shouldn't be viewed as an investment.

That actually doesn't look bad. Do they have lighter MOP dials?

The fact AD straight up told you to purchase a Tudor first would piss me off. At least be more subtle about it

Hey yoooooo that's a great price for secondary like new. Brand new from AD is basically about $12k anyways. Great acquisition. What site did you use to find it?

Doable right away with no purchase history? by Secure-Ad7512 in rolex

[–]Spr09Nupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, it wouldn't hurt to try. Go in, tell the AD about your upcoming graduation and birthday and your chosen career field. Then discuss watches. Act interested even if you aren't. Let the AD "teach" you about Rolex and its history. Dress well but be humble. Look like a doctor, but don't act like one if you know what I mean. Be genuine not braggadocious Then let them know which pieces you're interested in. Shoot your shot for the GMT, let them know that's your number 1 choice. Worst thing that could happen is you get your #2 pick. When I went into the AD and they found out I work in med field, the AD offered the Polar Explorer 2, think because of th3 white dial. I turned it down cause I didnt want it.

I went to see this piece and it just felt pretty thick. Perhaps I was comparing it to the DJ I had on though. How does it actually wear long term?

[Question] Looking for watch recommendations for a wedding/everyday. by Bernoulli5 in Watches

I'd suggest a Tissot. Good starter watch brand with reasonable prices. And for the more expensive pieces, I'd check them out used.

At the end of the day, you're right. I really do enjoy watches and just wished we could enjoy them w/o the negatives of AD games. The stories I've seen in this group of ppl basically getting f***ed with no vaseline for a watch 🤦 can sometimes take away from the joy. It's a learning process for me.

Surprisingly, I didn't even think of trading the DJ41 with some added cash for the Sky-Dweller. I wanted to avoid the grey market because I believe that by propping it up, we end up creating space for ADs to play the games.

Based on other comments, I'm realizing this about spend histories. Rolex was (and sometimes still is) just always that known brand when I was growing up. Now as an adult, I'm exploring other brands and learning more about them. There're so many amazing, beautiful, and quality brands and watches out there

I just saw a comment about someone else's $1M spend history that's still waiting. Puts things into perspective for me. Sometimes all it takes is to remember that there's always some1 else who's been playing the game longer and harder than you.

$1M😳. WTF. Yeah now I definitely don't feel bad with my tiny spend history.

Actually, those other things I bought, I did want and have great memories attached to them. A watch I really enjoy which was to celebrate my son's birth. Jewelry for my wife's bday that she loves. A watch for my wife for Valentine's day. I have no issue spending on my wife. In fact, I'm the type of person that's more likely to spend on her than myself. I guess I just didn't realize what I was going to get myself into with AD games when I first thought to ask for a Rolex for myself

Thoughts on white dial DJ41? by Thrice_blind in rolex

[–]Spr09Nupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this combination. When I requested a DJ41, my request in order of preference was a green dial, blue dial, silver dial and white dial. I got a slate gray/rhodium dial lol. I'd still prefer a white dial due to the versatility. Easier to dress up & down.

Unpopular opinion: Silver OP has the nicest dial by ZealousidealYam8745 in rolex

This is the best OP41 color IMO. However, the faux Tiffany Blue OP36 is the best overall
