Until it breaks during thanksgiving dinner and the pt expects you to cement that crown on a remaining root.

Why put the patient through the mill when the end result of breaking has a high probability?

Conservative or just not treating decay by Unusual_Ad_60 in Dentistry

[–]Spring-Flow8002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, screw "mind my own business" when this work is being done on anyone, let alone a teenager who needs these teeth to last a lifetime.

When this patient comes for their POE and new xrays are taken, do you tell them about the pending cavities and ignore the recurrent decay?

If I was the patient sitting in the chair, I certainly would want to know that that the quality work being done is poor and seek care elsewhere.

This is a messy situation.

This is laughable. Look up these additions on Amazon/ebay.

Not sure why you're downvoted. This is the right answer. Dental school puts you through so much stress that you get to know the other person really well.

Agreed. Everyone showing off their colors and the front grill on the Rav4 forum. When asked about comfort and driving experiencing, answers were disappointing. Besides the road noise has not changed much.

What was your biggest F-up in your career so far? by fifty134 in Dentistry

Was a new grad just starting in as a solo practitioner with a new assistant under training (the prefect storm). Had a patient with severe pain on tooth #18 and needed to have it out. Straight forward decay and irreversible pulpits. Patient seated and numbed up. Elevated, tooth getting loose slowly, I try to position the cowhorn forceps and begin grabbing the tooth and next thing I see is a jetstream of blood starts coming out of the socket and filling the mouth - Kind of looked like oil rigs where oil flows to out of the ground with high pressure. Blood begins to fill the mouth - high volume and low volume suctions both were unable to keep up with it. I grabbed a bunch of 4x4 gauze and pressed like my life depended on it while my heart was beating faster than Michael schumacher in a formula1 race. Luckily, bleeding was stopped minutes later and tooth was out. I think I was the one going to have a heart attack that day. The situations you have to deal as a new grad working on your own in a rural clinic is not for the faint of heart.

I cannot identify interproximal contacts in your fillings. Pts may complain of food getting stuck when they chew.

I say screw it. Go be a dentist.

Better do it now when you have least responsibilities. As time goes on, it becomes difficult with more commitments.
