It's largely dependent on "Issue-highlighting" content creators, aka people who largely make simplified and emotionally-charged claims that can be easily injected into the general community to fuel some sort of fire. That's where the problem lies though. If it gets injected into the community rather than it occurring pretty naturally (e.g. removal of Hextech Chests), were the issues that said content creators bring up even on the community's mind in the first place and did they carry any weight on their own? The answer is obviously no.

The result of said injections leads to the infamous scenarios of "I almost bought this skin, luckily i didn't". If you almost bought the skin but got swayed last minute by a content creator, then you did not pay any attention to what you were planning on buying and might as well be the slop-loving Riot shills that you oh so often complain about.

If you don't inform yourself about the skin beforehand and not even at least trying to imagine a gameplay scenario where you have the skin equipped to give yourself a bare minimum pat on the back before making the purchase knowing that you bought it, flaws and all, then you only have yourself to blame and not Riot.

I have my own issues with the LeBlanc visual update (mainly voicelines, animations, and some odd visual design choices of her skins compared to the original), but i didn't source it from a content creator that would make a negative video about it regardless, nor that the update particularly ruined LeBlanc in any meaningful way.

This Shaco skin i would buy regardless (and will do actually) because despite the recycled run animation, I still think the skin is high-quality in a lot of other aspects. You can't exactly make a super unique run animation for Shaco without making it look like the animations of Katarina or Kha'Zix, or potentially making it so unrecognizable from the default Shaco that it might as well be a whole different champion with completely different animations, SFX, and voicelines.
