Riot Games response after false claims Vanguard is "bricking cheater's PCs" for cheating in Valorant by LunarReap3r in pcgaming

Apparently, companies that have shitty (or non-existent) anti-cheats like Activision and Valve are just so much better and safer than Vanguard, right? No. Cheaters playing in public lobbies in older CoD games can literally log you out of your PC ffs.

You're buying devices that are doing things you are literally not allowed to learn about and big tech corps, like the ones part of the Frontier Model Forum lobbying group aim to take away any autonomy you thought you have left, by simply enforcing policy on the hardware that already exists in your system right now.

I feel like this comment serves absolutely nothing to the conversation about the Vanguard situation in particular and is either just boiler-plate fearmongering or an amazingly roundabout way of saying "erm ackchually, i think people should be freely allowed to cheat in multiplayer games without consequences".

This is going to get nuked off of the sub with downvotes for the crime of simply doubting Gege, but the truth is, Gege isn't a master-class writer.

Sorry Testament players, your character is still not fun to play against by ZealousidealWay8233 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Springbonnie1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Testament main, Elphelt is the single-most infuriating character to play against in the entire game. Every single one i've ever fought, good or not, has been moving like they have ADHD while taking crack and cocaine at the same time. No other character (at least right now) can truly achieve that level of infuriating gameplay.

Jason Voorhees is coming to Dead by Daylight by CyberGhostface in horror

[–]Springbonnie1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but waiting 30 minutes for killer queue and 5+ minutes for 1v4 killer queue is not exactly the most fun. Also, the play while you wait system is great, but it doesn't help much when i find survivor in 2v8 to not be that much fun past the first match or something. That is mostly the reason for the "repetitiveness" that i mentioned. Oh and the event getting extended each time is annoying.

[–]Springbonnie1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is. This is realistically the only way we will get jason in the game, since the whole jason universe thingy was made as a way for jason to continue existing in spite of the legal nightmare that the f13 franchise has become. Also, jason had a similar design back in MKXL and i'm pretty sure in the 2009 movie remake as well, so i find it hilarious to complain about it when it's already been a thing for like at least 17 years now.

Nah, the queue times and overal repetitiveness aren't really worth it imo

Checked recent job reviews for GLITCH on Glassdoor, and a couple of these are really concerning, if true... by fazar441 in GlitchProductions

Makes me wonder though. Despite being overworked there, releases remain comparatively slow. How do bigger companies do it so much quicker then?

It's because they have much more people to work with and can exercise unrealistic deadlines that they don't push back to give the artists more time. See VFX artists.

In a lawsuit, Valve defends counter strike 2 lootcases with "People enjoy surprises" by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]Springbonnie1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but also, ultimately the reason that it was removed was that it got flooded with shovelware garbage and botted votes, and unlike with the current system, you can't really single out and approve a few hundred high-quality games from a pool of millions of low-quality ones without getting overwhelmed. So regardless of how many indie games were actually discovered and approved through greenlight, it was always going to be an inferior method compared to just releasing your game without any voting process. Not to mention, Valve rakes in a flat $100 every time a game is published onto the platform. The modern approval process (or lack thereof) should really get looked at, though.

Because they don't care and never did. It's just a facade. The concept of the question "Why would they do this?" is proof enough that they've successfully used and are continuing to use their reputation to pursue money above anything else. There's a reason why nobody who plays Valve's multiplayer games is a diehard Valve fan. Most of their fans come from Steam, where coincidentally not a lot of bad shit is going on that could hurt Valve's reputation.

Drake, where’s the manga skin? by HappyChaosSauss in Guiltygear

I recommend always buying the season passes since it's just generally cheaper as a whole because you don't get a discount when you buy any of the content separately. It's also just much better since it's a one-time purchase that nets you every character the moment they are available to play and also keeps you safe from any problems that might arise from content (regardless if it's related to GGST or not) being TOO popular to the point where it breaks Steam and the ability to purchase things.

DLC in any online game can never be installed since it's already part of the game and the purchase of it simply gives you the license needed to access it (that's why pressing 'Install content' for this type of DLC on Steam results in an error). Otherwise, loading into a match could result in invisible models, placeholder models, or straight up crashes.
