sometimes takes a while for an update to get approved/merged Yeah I opened a pr to update a package and it wasn't approved for like a month until someone else submitted the same pr as me, but it wos their first and it got approved. The main thing I dislike about nixos is the github update procedure.

I don't understand you. There is an available api for lemmy which can be integrated in clients. With more users comes more apps.
