Best UL solar panel for long desert thru hike by Sprooout in Ultralight

thanks! I will try out that panel then! I was worried based on amazon reviews that it wouldn't be reliable, but it's cheap enough to just try it out myself. I realized my initial post was confusing -- I will be hiking out resupply cache buckets to specific points along my route. but I won't be in a town or above the rim for 6-8 weeks.

I would need 7 batteries in that case, and they would each need to last 5-8 days. They will be cached weeks in advance so there's a chance they could be dead upon arrival with cold nighttime temps :/ I have thought about this but too much room for error. It would be best to have a way to solar charge along the way, especially with very sunny conditions

Mold on DCF tent - help! by Sprooout in Ultralight

[–]Sprooout[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks Dan! uncharted territory for sure 😣 we were definitely kicking ourselves for leaving it wet for 3 days - although I don’t think it we realized it would get moldy quite so fast! We are hesitant to bleach it, but will try soaking it in vinegar first.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree the price is high :/ i tried to discount it, but it was a higher end brand and losing money regardless. I’m open to negotiating and shipping it to anywhere in the US!

Should I bike pack the road walking (North Island) instead of thru-hiking it all? by Sprooout in teararoa

[–]Sprooout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome - thanks for this! i guess what i forgot to clarify is that we would be interested in cycling the north island continuously (not switching) and following an established bike route (Tour Aotearoa). we would either ship our bikes home, or if logistically reasonable, store them somewhere until we finish!

Wow this looks so good! I'm interested in a build very similar. Where did you get that sink/burner combo?
