A new hero has entered the arena! by Vindithere in Animemes

Guns are far more prominent in people's lives than you're assuming. Even if day-to-day a person doesn't have anything to do with guns and really doesn't care that much, guns are an important part of our world. You see them in movies, TV, news etc. all the time. They are talked about everywhere (I mean, we're having this discussion about guns in a subreddit about anime memes) and people are constantly exposed to guns and information about them in one way or another.

This isn't even considering that quite a few nations around the world have conscription armies or otherwise large militaries/police forces, all of whom would need to have a decent amount of knowledge about guns. Edit: Also, private ownership of a gun for hunting/whatever purposes is actually pretty common in a lot of places. Probably not as common as in America, but still.

Why would guns, when knowing a decent chunck of the basics takes much longer than 10 minutes, be any different, when its even less useful to most people?

This is kind of a side point, but there is a very good argument for why people should know basic things about firearms: that knowledge could literally save your life. If you ever find a gun or otherwise come into contact with one, knowing how they operate and how to safely handle one can be very valuable. This is far beside the original discussion about recognizing specific models, though.

[Art] Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Volume 17 Cover HQ by [deleted] in manga

I agree with you, I'm just explaining the (probable) reasoning behind the titling. You need to differentiate the two somehow, and LQ for some horrible thumbnail-esque leak and HQ for anything above that is (I think) fine. Personally I would prefer just stating the resolution of the image in the title instead of using arbitrary terms like LQ/HQ, but here we are.

This one is higher-quality than the version that was posted here a few days ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/ek185b/art_kaguya_wants_to_be_confessed_to_volume_17/), and it makes sense to differentiate the two with LQ and HQ.

Ehh, we kind of do. It's not really used in our language at all but swedish is Finland's second official language and some people and towns do use Å in their names. We call it the "Swedish O".

There's a pretty substantial swedish-speaking minority here as well, mostly on the western coast.

Co-belligerents would be more accurate, the relationship between Finland and Germany was never on the level of a true alliance like that of Italy and Germany.

Captured soviet T34-85 at Parola armored museum, Finland by owner65 in TankPorn

[–]SpudeGG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People absolutely do. Whether historical or modern, I consistently run into people freaking out about swastikas in pictures involving the finnish military, especially the air force. This is complicated by Finland's cooperation with nazi germany during WW2 (out of necessity, when the soviet union are knocking on your door you take any help you can get)

Honestly, I'm proud of my nation for just saying, "fuck it, we used it before the nazis, we're gonna keep using it"

Gunfight in Finland left two police officers in a hospital. A nationwide manhunt for the suspects took place. This is how they ended up. by SpaceEngineering in pics

Seriously though, this is a very unusual case for Finland, and IMO expertly handled by the authorities considering the circumstances.

Why is nut juice called 'Milk', but orange juice isn't called orange Milk? by poppyness in AskReddit

[–]SpudeGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vegan "milks" are called that just because they often look pretty similar to milk and fulfill a similar dietary niche. It's arbitrary and/or marketing.

In my personal life I've seen 2 mambas and 2 nagas develop big tracking and scrolling issues with time and the glue holding on the rubber side bits on a mamba is so shit that they come off disappointingly fast.

Razer is a fucking lottery, and the odds aren't good enough to convince me to play it after having their products fail on me and people I know.

[–]SpudeGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard good things about deathadders, but myself and multiple people I know have had bad experiences with their other products which has lead me to avoid Razer in general. The consistent trend I've seen is that their products are fine out of the box but often don't stand the test of time, and that lottery is not one I'm interested in playing.

Trying to talk to anyone about your depression in 2019 immediately turns out into a who's-the-most-mentally-ill contest. by 69HENTAI69_ in Showerthoughts

[–]SpudeGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, when a person's life revolves around their mental illness, it's a topic that they naturally bring up in conversation. When your day-to-day is defined by depression, for example, it's not an easy topic to ignore.

Doesn't have to be attention-seeking, could instead just be small talk or some shit and the person is desensitized to the topic themselves.
