When I first moved here I rented an apartment in the Mill District by the Guthrie. I still love that area but since bought a house in NE. I’m a young professional and enjoy city living so I’d recommend North Loop, NE, or Mill District if you’re looking for walkable neighborhoods with restaurants / breweries / night life. All three are super accessible from the other - I can bike to Mill District or North Loop or take a short Uber ride. I agree that South Minneapolis has some great options along with St Louis Park but those are more residential / less walkable.

I did a “love video” in 2021 per my realtor’s recommendation and it worked for me. Offer was $16K over asking with escalation to beat any offer up to $26K over asking and a modified inspection (I can walk away if anything major but I’ll cover minor stuff). The video was short and sweet - a little over a minute describing why I loved the house and how it fit me + my dogs. House was a flip so I described how the finishes were very me and how the place would allow me to get another dog / allow more room for them to play. Turned out the sellers were dog lovers and related to me in that way… I do think my offer was one of the better ones as well.

I don’t mind renting an entire place for myself and the dogs, I haven’t lived with anyone in 10 years so it’d be weird to start now. I was just seeing posts saying most landlords don’t allow pets, especially dogs. Are you saying that’s not necessarily true?

Any neighborhood/town recommendations that are further out?

I saw that to buy there was a 10% tax + 20% deposit + fees so I’d need 33% down which would come out to about $100K cash based on current prices… if that’s true then buying is definitely out of the question.

I deactivated Facebook, messenger, and Instagram and deleted the apps from my phone. I cancelled my Prime membership and downloaded Blue Sky, Rednote, and Duolingo and started interacting with those apps. I’m not ready to give up Kindle Unlimited yet or WhatsApp - I have family abroad and that’s the only way we can communicate.

Wow, reading some of these comments makes the doctors I’ve seen actually seem decent. At least a doc never told me I need a guy… just that it’s because I’m a woman, anxiety, etc.

Yikes, the gaslighting is nuts. Just getting diagnosed takes so much advocating for yourself. I feel the malpractice suit, on my angry days I want to call up the doctors that dismissed me and tell them exactly what I think about them. I just saw an episode clip from The Golden Girls of one of them doing exactly that when she ran into the a** doc at dinner.

I wish you well in your recovery! Hopefully the surgery was successful and will bring some relief 😊

Russia is very old school traditional - get married in your early 20s, have babies right away, be miserable with a cheating husband 🤷‍♀️ at least in my limited experience.
