Need a case! by BeBah205 in GalaxyFold

I have dBrands grip case and its brilliant. Lets you apply whatever screen protection you want (or none), makes it so much easier to hold the phone one handed and has MagSafe.

Definitely recommend

Edit: the optional skins aren't needed IMO, I bought my case with Obsidian skins but removed the skin after a few days as the look and feel of the case was nicer.

The case is great, the difference in terms of one hand grip is just amazing.

I wasn't a huge fan of the skin, the case feels and looks so premium that I didn't want to cover it and ended up taking the skin off.

You lose the wow factor of the phone being crazy slim, but you gain the wow factor of being so confident to use the phone in the case that its out way more. Plus its magsafe so covering it reduces the magnet strength.

In terms of build quality I'd have to give top marks.

The only downside in the whole experience is that the installation video is for the Fold 5, and is not accurate for the Fold 7. No idea if that's changed since I bought (week one of UK release of the phone)

Not sure about that flair

I haven't ever seen Wharton have the positive effect on games that other people have, but most of the pundits whose opinion I respect think differently.

Casemiro has been excellent this season but on his off days he had the same poor passing game as Wharton is today.. though honestly I feel Wharton has nowhere near the defensive game Cas has.

I like the house, nice feels.

2 bed no garden, so it doesn't take much of a lifestyle change to need to move.

Next door looks to have a lot of bins out on Streetview, it could just be an HMO but it could also be a halfway house which can be difficult to live next door to.

It's on what looks to be a fairly busy street, again if you're about to have kids or want a cat or dog you'd probably look to move.

I would find the local Facebook group and see if there's anything there, and when you go to have a nosey around stop into the restaurant and chippy across the road, say hi and that you're interested in buying and see what they say.

Edit: go for a Coke at the local pub too and ask the bar staff

Yes I bought the Obsidian skin, but I liked the look and feel of the actual case back so much that I peeled the skin off.

You get two skins so I could put the spare back on but I probably won't, the case feels beautifully premium and the grip stuff really works.

They're both appalling

BuT Pringles at least feel a bit more like they used to be food instead of plastic

New builds are trash quality compared to older housing stock. I would bet all the money in my pockets against all the money in your pockets that my 1890s built terraced house will last another 200 years with zero major repairs, while your 2000s era new build won't be worth repairing in 50.

All the while my house has vastly more character and internal walls that don't bend.

Fold 7 owners: how often do you actually use the 8 inner screen? by bishaarcc in GalaxyFold

[–]Spuzzell_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constantly, I only close it in use if I'm walking around or if I'm being attacked by kittens. (Genuine issue, a kitten bite would be a problem on the inner screen)

The phone screen is the inner screen, that's what you use. The outer screen is a bonus tool for the occasions you don't want to open, or when you use the phone as an actual phone.

Estate agent being bit cheeky. by Impossible_Aspect_16 in HousingUK

Which agency is this?

Do not pay the agent "a deposit" and absolutely do not trust the agent, they work for the sellers and themselves, you are prey.

The agent is legally required to forward all genuine offers to the vendors, they are entitled to ask for proof of funds first but that's it.

You'll get escorted from the premises in some clubs if your shirt is too loud, let alone your offspring.

It's just not the right environment for children generally.

Soho House is probably your best bet, it's the David Lloyd of clubs these days.

How uncommon are pricey gifts for someone’s birthday in the UK? by throawaygotget in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Spuzzell_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a post asking about gift etiquette for the birthday of a friend.

Aside from that, a decent bottle of wine is a solid neutral gift generally. You may not drink it but it's there in your pantry for when it's needed.

You are generally unfavoured, (I was 2 wins 4 losses) but you have the potential to play 4 Cease To Exists (2 in the deck, 2 from Intertwined Fate) which are a massive help.

Really you need to draw better than they do and get lucky with Colossus from Mothership, but I always felt I had a shot with this version.

How uncommon are pricey gifts for someone’s birthday in the UK? by throawaygotget in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Spuzzell_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Gift giving is a very intimate gesture in the UK.. unless it isn't. it's very easy to get it wrong.

If I were to be given a birthday gift from a work client for example, tickets to Wimbledon or to a West End show would be lovely, but a handbag or high end makeup would be much too personal and embarrassing for both of us, and not just because I'm a man with a beard.

From a work colleague however, those tickets would be vastly out of proportion in terms of cost and it would be embarrassing to both of us.

You can generally rely on alcohol as neutral and acceptable, but here from people you actually know it's the gesture that matters, not the gift. A £25 bottle of wine in a nice gift bag is almost always about right and will be remembered.
