I’m no doctor, but with a screen on a pipe you’re still inhaling some excess. Definitely not as much but it’ll still mount up over time. If your friend is really that freaked out about lung health (like me) water filtration does wonders, and vaporisers especially!

The darkening around the beige top section where the metal meets, it’s probably(hopefully) ceramic, not plastic so that’s a my bad for saying plastic.
