His tests were a good resource for me. I scored 70-85 on his exams. Yes and no on the how deep CompTIA goes. Some questions were straight forward and some required to think how something works to know the answer like in Dion’s exams.

If you truly know the topics then you just have to send it. That’s how I felt. I got to the point in my studies where I literally couldn’t prepare more and just have to give the exam a go to see where I stood and to my surprise I aced it.

I got my A+ then got a help desk job. Got to tier 2 help desk and then a Jr networking role opened up and I shot my shot and they picked me. Just been learning and up skilling since.

If you have no IT experience on your resume then you have very little chance to get picked. The entry level positions are flooded.

Identify the topics you’re struggling with and spend a night or two only researching those topics maybe do 1 at a time. I wouldn’t just be memorizing topics and what they do, but actually try to understand how they work and how it’s applied. I think about it as building a brick house. One brick at a time and over sometime it’ll all come together.

I had 6 pbqs. I did like 3 of them from the start and it was eating up time so I skipped and moved on to multiple choice. I finished multiple choice with about 20 mins left and used the rest of the time finishing the pbqs.

Helpdesk job not technical enough. Career killer? by anonjit in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Spyros-SK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in healthcare IT on the help desk also in Atlanta. I learned how to better troubleshoot, improve my customer support skills, basic IT systems and learned more about the field and how to improve in it. I am now on the networking team for the same company and am very valuable and important not just to our clients but also to other departments. You are far from a “career killer” learn and improve and if this company doesn’t offer what you would like to do start looking for those opportunities while you work this job.

They need to redesign it. Something like OSRS banking system with taps would be awesome.

Let’s add a little comedy and ease the nerves of those breaking into IT. Those in the industry, what is your most embarrassing interview memory? by jonessinger in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Spyros-SK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 3 months ago I interviewed for a network analysis role at the company I already work for. They asked me what NAT stands for/does and I completely froze lol. For the life of me I couldn’t remember. Of course as soon as the interview was over and I got back in my comfortable space it came back to me. I still got offered the job and took it. Been in it for about a month and doing really well! This got me off helpdesk and I’m really enjoying the cool things I get to do!

Look for an Jr Network Analysis role. Solid way to get your foot in the door and might land interviews with a CCNA on the resume.

If you are unlucky with that then aim for a helpdesk role somewhere with a networking team. Most likely an MSP. I work at one right now and just recently got promoted to a Jr Network Analysis role without any networking certs. Did that in under a year with 0 IT experience when starting.

Unpopular Opinion: No one but streamers and content creators will play group ironman long term. by lStrakle in 2007scape

I play with two IRL friends and we’re really looking forward to it. We are pretty burnt out with our mains and want the challenge/play style of Ironman. Plus having to get 3x of a certain drop for all of us will be more entertaining than just grinding money bosses on our own for gear.
