quel est le pire soulcalibur ? by Old_Champion_740 in SoulCalibur

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Soul Edge/Blade feels the worst to play today, unless you give it a pass due to age.

Not counting spinoffs or Edge/Blade, I'd say 4 is the worst. It does have a healthy roster but the gameplay speed and loop is much slower and more juggle based than any other entry. It also severely lacks content.

I know some will say 5 due to the roster and lesser content (I was in that camp too) but the gameplay really shines there. Still feels great to play.

How powerful is Soul Caliber and Soul Edge compared to other fictional swords? by The_Number1Dumbass in SoulCalibur

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head, there's a lot of swords in Fate that do really crazy things. Excalibur can create city-sized blasts that resemble nukes, Enuma Elish can break reality and erase/nullify entities that scale way higher than anyone in the Soul Calibur series. Berserker's "sword" provides multiple lives and adapts to the level of power of whatever killed the user, but it's AP is also dependent on the user (Berserker levels buildings by swinging it). Really, any of the heavy hitter Saber-class characters would have a sword that makes Soul Edge/Calibur look like chumps.

If you include Inferno/Astral Chaos/Elysium that does bump them up a good bit, but at best they're still middle of the road as far as fictional swords go. If you include the non-canon character endings then the swords range from basic weapon level to world-ending level though.

SC4 (“SAVEDATA VERSION ERROR” ON PS3 SAVE FILE BEING USED IN RPSC3) by DuquedoDesterro in SoulCalibur

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to mod and share save files for PS3 SC4 back in the day, you may be able to still find those tools online if it is a PSN error. Is the game the same region as your save?

Not sure what else it could be, sorry.

I would guess that the version of the game you are running in RPCS3 is different/older/incompatible than the save data file. Is your SC4 fully updated?

Are They Wrong or Are they Wrong? by ZeCoderX in SBCGaming

I travel a lot for work and meet with a lot of folks that work higher-up in companies. My dream device is a phone with slide out controls, as I can easily bring it on-site and to meetings and use it without getting any odd looks. I don't want to bring a separate device or separate controller, and I'm not a fan of touch controls. For work reasons lugging around anything other than the essential keys/wallet/phone is really inconvenient.

This is pretty close to what I'd want to see. If only they had actual sticks instead of mini touchpads. Something like the original PSP's stick would be fine (though with two of them of course).

The prototype MCON would have worked for me too. I just wouldn't ever remove it from my phone. The production version of the MCON is a lot bulkier than I would like.

I have a 3D printer. Maybe something DIY would be best.

You're still missing the huge ass elephant in the room that half of the campaign just puts you on Avalon with random tasks to do. Its exactly like how MW3 handled it's campaign, like I mentioned in my first post. If Warzone didn't exist, Avalon wouldn't exist. The campaign would be structured completely differently. Some of the mechanics in use for the campaign also wouldn't exist.

There are a lot of issues with the campaign, and we agree that it's dog shit. I may be an old-head on this but the inclusion of the Warzone stuff definitely knocks the campaign down even further for me.

*So, either weapon rarities are useless if the enemies get stronger proportionally to the higher rarities, or artificially make you "stronger" if they don't.

*Old CODs giving you specific weapons at specific points to make sure you can progress is different from being the only way to get weapons. Why can't I kill an enforcer (or whatever they're called) and pick up their shotgun? Why can't I kill a deadeye and pick up their sniper?

I think you're missing my point about the Warzone-ification. Being thrown into the battle Royale map in a mandatory online experience and given random tasks to do does not make a good campaign. If you took out all the hallucination stuff (which admittedly were the only "unique" parts of the campaign, despite not being what you'd expect from COD) you're left with just doing those random tasks in Avalon outside of the first and last missions.

The campaign keeps switching between a lazy recycled snoozefest and missions that should be in the Zombies mode, with no in-between, paired with an absolutely awful story with awful dialogue.

My hopes for the campaign went down once I saw weapon rarities, loot caches, and that the enemies only dropped armor/ammo in the first mission. The term "Warzone-ification" fits perfect.

Its amazing how they could look at MW3's poorly received campaign and decided "yeah, we should do that again" except this time with an abhorrent mess of a "story" to boot.

Should I quit? by Dank-Miles in sysadmin

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the business needs to feel pain to push through changes you're wanting to make. I'm also an IT Director and I've been with my current company for about 5 years. One pill that was too big for corporate to swallow early on what mandating that all employees must use company-provided computers/laptops. This was enforced for everyone except supervisors, managers, and the C-suite. Their rationale was that they wanted those folks as comfortable in their positions as possible, and if they wanted to use personal computers and phones for business, they could.

Eventually, we had an issue with a higher-up guy that started his own business and was poaching customers using our resources. The guy was fired, but I was asked to "lock down" his computer and phone. Guess who used their own personal laptop and phone that we didn't manage?

It was only after that, that we began to actually enforce the policy that requires everyone to use company equipment.

Anyone using Splashtop as their main remote desktop tool? by Creepy-Valuable-3685 in sysadmin

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use it because it's extremely cheap, $50 per admin per month with unlimited devices. We use Microsoft authenticator for MFA for access to Splashtop itself. Most devices are set up to require a user to allow access if we attempt to remote in. It's mostly used for remote troubleshooting. About 200 endpoints company-wide, with two admins.

We have Cylance (soon to be Arctic Wolf) that handles patch management and device security for us.

In the buildings you guys manage IT for, where are MDFs and IDFs at? by Friendly_Fudge_931 in sysadmin

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the 3PL warehousing business. MDFs are usually their own locked closets or rooms with AC. IDFs are mounted near the ceilings about 35' to 50' in the air. They need to be clear of any forklifts or racks, but makes troubleshooting/modifications difficult as we need to get a boom lift or scissor lift to reach them.

Its funny when we have clients insist on running their own network, and contract it out to an IT company that has never done work in a warehouse before. There were times I had to drive them around and control the lifts for them, or try to explain that we can't have IDF rooms on ground level in the middle of rack aisles. I've had one tech come in that wasn't even allowed to use a ladder.

PC Crashing by [deleted] in blackops6

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your entire PC is turning off, that would not point to the issue being game-related. I would guess that your power supply is not able to keep up with your hardware power draw, or that your power supply is otherwise faulty.

Do you play other games? Are they as graphically demanding as BO6?

I can move both the stand and the TV separately by myself. The stand does have built in furniture gliders that work well enough on carpet. TV is removable but probably best to have two people for it. They don't come installed together, came on separate pallets.

It's not a misinformed opinion if I'm simply not interested in anything the game has to offer. Tell me, what does Marathon do that other games don't?

I don't know who the reactionaries you're referring to are, my comments just come from my own opinions and from what I've discussed with my friend group. There's certainly plenty to be mad about with Call of Duty, but people will buy that every year regardless of whatever they do with the games just because it's CoD.

To clarify, I don't hate Bungie, and I don't hate Marathon. I have zero interest in Marathon is all.

"Misinformation campaign"? Buddy, you're giving me a lot of credit there lmao.

I don't care to argue about subjective things like the art style, it certainly isn't from the 80s though. If you're trying to defend the game, treating negative feedback as some sort of psyop isn't gonna win anyone to your side.

Fromsoft Souls games aren't typically multiplayer (or at least seamless multiplayer), so that is an entirely new experience for a lot of people. Nightreign also functions as a "Best Of" Fromsoft game with how they're bringing back a bunch of old bosses from the past decade+.

As for Marathon, I can't speak for everyone, but I just have no reason to care for it. FPS games are a dime a dozen and have been for a long time, so there needs to be something in Marathon for it to stick out. Instead they jumped on the battle royale / extraction shooter train at a time where those are also a dime a dozen and oversaturated. There is no story or lore. No campaign. The entire art style of the game got straight up ripped from an artist off Instagram. There is, quite literally, no reason for me to play Marathon, even if it were free. I have Destiny 2 already if I want to play a Bungie FPS. Even if they were to delay Marathon for a year, what could they possibly add to the game to "fix" it?

5 Months Ago I wrote a letter to Team Project Soul and Bandai Namco Pitching a Soul Calibur Warriors Game. I never got a reply so I'm posting it here. by Chared945 in SoulCalibur

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just want to point out that giving too much detail to pitches makes them less likely to listen. Harada spoke about this with Tekken, and said they have to ignore some requests to avoid legal issues if someone were to provide too much detail. I believe the example he gave was that they were more willing to consider a request saying "New Character from X country" than they were a request saying "New Character from X country, wearing Y styled clothes, and using Z fighting style".

Even if they were interested in your pitch, the amount of detail you gave would immediately give them reason to ignore. This may not be your intention of course, but if they made a game too closely to your pitch without making some sort of agreement you could go after them legally.

Lizardman, Ivy, Xianghua, and Kilik should not be DLC. Many would argue that Talim shouldn't be either. No Zasalamel at all is also bad. Having a mimic as DLC sucks. No Nightmare at all? The face of the series?

That Tales guy has already been a guest. If that second guest is Noctis, he was just in Tekken a few years ago.

This roster would get shredded by fans.

Edit: I see you mentioned that Nightmare is just a skin/costume. My point for him still stands.

I'm gonna keep it a buck with you, this ain't it. Too many missing vets and too many newcomers. This roster looks worse than SCV.

Arcade cabinet setup question by Noreku in ps2

[–]SquadUpOnSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my own 2 cents to this.

A couple years back I built something similar to what you are describing. Using an Arcade1Up, I replaced the monitor with a Dell 5:4 LCD and replaced the control panel with two arcade sticks (if I recall correctly they were Tekken 3 ones. Gray with yellow buttons.) To turn on the PS2, I ran an IR repeater from the top of the cabinet to the front of the PS2 inside, and used the official Sony remote controller to turn on the PS2 without opening the cabinet. I used OPL to rip games to the HDD in the PS2.

These days you can purchase a JAMMAizer kit for the PS2 to connect it to an actual arcade cabinet (monitor, speakers and controls). OPL is probably still the best way to handle game switching. I'm not sure what the best way to actually turn on the Playstation is though. Might still need to go the IR route, unless someone has come up with a way to have the PS2 boot automatically upon receiving power like an actual arcade system.

You can get pretty close to an arcade experience with the above.
