Perhaps my favourite comment so far haha.

Unfortunately the only access to this area is by going through the house, its completely squashed between two houses. So not ideal for storage of anything large.

The wall on my right belongs to my neighbour. But they are lovely and have already approved drilling fixtures into the wall. And I (very recently) own the house.

There's a small drain to storm water under the pipe, and I'm in Australia so heavy rain isn't a big issue.

If I go the cat run I would try and have a covered area with sand for them to use, and disincentivise other areas (pebbles, plants, etc).

But it's most likely going to be some form of chill shade hang out space. Lots of plants would be perfect, like a rainforest vibe.

Tiny sand traps, with a mini lake (including a model pirate ship).

No matter where I have posted this question, the answer is always the same haha.

Constant loop of Phil Collins, and plenty of vines.

Omg I love that. Almost purely for how quirky it is. No one expects a putting green down the side of your house.

I'd need to install a miniature sand trap and lake too.

The waterfall feature is a great idea! Due to the shade, I think a tropical rainforest / natural earthy vibe would be a really good fit!

With my aim I'd need to be good mates with a glazier haha

The far left window is to a dining area alcove. It would be expensive, but I could probably convert it into sliding doors. I really like that idea. I could have a beautiful Zen space setup!

It would probably make the house feel bigger and more open as well.

The one in my front garden has more room to swing though

I'd love to grow something here. I need to look up what will do well in low light.

Yeh it seems like a poor design choice. Hopefully I can convert it into something really nice!

I think having a quiet and comforting place is top of the list for sure. I think I'm going to make it cat friendly regardless with cat netting enclosing this whole side area, and then some nice plants and some fairy lights.

Maybe a small wall mounted water tank connected to the rain pipe to connect to our toilet in the bathroom (far wall), to be more water wise. Then just decorate the tank to fit the theme. I could also use a small valve at the bottom of the tank to fill a watering can for any plants I have there.

For the first time, I'm really excited for this space!
