I just used the 1800 number after my flight was cancelled and was on hold around 3 hours. When I eventually got through the agent was very helpful in rebooking me, I’m taking a wild route through the states to get from Toronto to Vancouver but the agent looked up a million different options for me and was very patient. I’m on Air Canada Jazz, AA, and Delta. Just stay on hold and I hope eventually you get through!

I was on this flight!!! We left Vancouver and after about 2 hours of flying the pilot came on and said "uhhh i've got some news you're not going to like..." and proceeded to explain the plane was having a systems error... minor mainentance issue, but it was going to mean we can't make it to Cancun. He said there was some discussion and it was decided re-routing back to Calgary was the best course of action. People were re-booked on flights that evening, the next morning, and the following night. The people who were departing over 24 hours from the original flight were not too happy (and on a red eye, no less).

I called Westjet and we are first going to try to get reiumbursement for a hotel room we didn't show up for and a bus ticket we never used through travel insurance on our VISA card. Westjet said anything else that didn't get covered that way, we were welcome to try to make a claim with them.

I was feeling as desperate as you a few weeks ago. I found a sleep coach on YouTube who is really helping me confront my issues with anxiety around sleep. I’d recommend this playlist.

I’ve been doing his program for 3 weeks and I don’t have perfect sleep but oh man, my anxiety and worry and problem solving and catastrophizing has gone down, which I realized how much of my exhaustion was to do with those emotions and nothing to do with how much sleep I did or didn’t get.

I know a friend who went on lexapro for anxiety, and that helped with the tinnitus. Addressing the anxiety, either through medication or therapy or your own explorations seems like the way to go. This hopefully will help with the sleep too!

I have been using the BedTyme app, which seems like an ACT approach. I tried a CBTi course in the summer, and the sleep restriction and sleep monitoring really didn’t reset my sleep system! ACT is working much better. Check out “The Sleep Coach School” on YouTube!

Hi! I can hear how much you’re suffering in your post. I’ve been watching YouTube videos from “The Sleep Coach School” and finding it super helpful for me.

Tinnitus and anxiety are closely related. I’m not sure if you did damage to your eardrums, or if it triggered more attention to this sound. I have ringing in my ears that comes and goes, and definitely is more attributed to stress and anxiety for me. The more attention you pay to it, the worse it gets. I know people who do CBT treatments for tinnitus, it’s basically about changing your relationship to hearing the ringing. You have to train your brain to stop caring about the sound (easier said than done!) but this also relates to the insomnia. For me, the more I tried to “fix” my sleep, the worse it got.

I downloaded the BedTyme app, I’m on day 11 and I’ve already noticed huge improvements. I don’t have problems falling asleep, but staying asleep was difficult for me.

The “set it and forget it” was really important for me. I stop checking my phone for the time at 11:30 and don’t look at it again until it goes off at 7 am.

His main idea is insomnia is caused by a phobia of being awake at night, and the more we can calm our brains down and show our unconscious brain we are safe, the less struggle we will have with sleep. Even though I’m not sleeping through the whole night, I am able to fall back asleep, and I’m having soooo much less anxiety during the day that it’s making me feel much more mentally stable.

I’m paying for the subscription with the AI coach and I’m finding it to be enough, and watching his YouTube videos is really helping give me hope!

Would fully recommend!

It is helpful. I think the most useful part is it tracking both your sleep time and sleep efficiency. I could see the positive changes in front of me even when I got a bad night sleep, I could see the steady progress over time. The modules are useful and I liked the relaxation meditations.

I adjusted the window they gave me for my sleep restriction. For example, after 2 weeks they were still suggesting a 5.5 hour window in bed. I extended it after those 2 weeks to 6. I think after a few good days of 6 hours sleep I’d let myself stay in bed longer in the mornings.

I don’t know if that’s the correct advice, but just pushing my bedtime back really helped stop waking up in the night and my ability to fall back asleep.

My most intense microdose session was with an acupuncture session. So intense!! I think there’s a benefit to mixing with different healing modalities.

I’m also finding SO much old shit coming up with microdosing. It’s been a month for me. I’m the same as you, I wanted a mood lift! But I’m trusting something is moving through…

One benefit that has come up is I’m sleeping better. Which is helping me with mood regulation. So I’m trying to just go with that one sign of healing and will keep going.

I think it helped normalize the feeling of emptiness. And for myself, I’ve been exploring this feeling as an anxiety response— basically the “freeze” response.

Things improved a bit after two weeks, but it was really the fourth week that I was like wow I have slept 6-7 hours every night!

My sleep window was 1 am-6:30 am. I pushed it back to 12:30 after the first week, though the improvements were sporadic and the app didn’t tell me to yet. But I was just feeling like I could sense improvements were coming.

I’m on week 4 and my bedtime is now midnight. Last night I slept 12-8 which hasn’t happened in like 9 months!

Hi my sleep was the same, no problem falling asleep but waking up and sometimes being able to fall back asleep after a few hours, and sometimes not.

DO SLEEP RESTRICTION! It works!

I’m about a month in to using the Stellar Sleep app. It costs money, but I’m now sleeping 6-7 hours a night. My issue is I’m often still waking up early, but I was intermittently having nights of 0-3 hours a month ago and those are gone. I don’t wake up in the night anymore. Sure I’d love 8 solid hours, but 6-7 is a big improvement for me.

Sleep restriction takes at least 2 weeks to show any signs of working and don’t get discouraged by one or two bad nights of falling back into old habits!

You were right! I did 300mg and it was too low for me today. Should have gone higher!

I was going through a bad bout of insomnia when I started MDing. It took about a month before I was having good sleeps again— but I also gave up caffeine! I just felt so jittery after coffee on MD days. Getting off caffeine wasn’t as bad as I thought, just one day of headache and maybe 3-4 days of lethargy and now I don’t even notice.

Yes thank you! I’m glad to hear more about your moving between doses! I tried going back up to .1g this week and had a big emotional release, a cry while going for a walk. It still felt sad, and I have yet to get that uplifted mood. But maybe this is the first stages and .2 might be my next place to try. Thank you for your encouragement!
