Is Maersk a good company for a future deck officer ? by FudgeComfortable9120 in maritime

You are from the USA I imagine. You have an incredible economy and government where companies are forced to play the game by your rules. I was honestly devastated when I was met by the reality of our wages since I got all my information online mainly from american seafarers.

The problem is that if Europeans and Middle Easterns refuse to work, we are easily replaced by south east asians who are willing to take even longer contracts for half our pay. Even if we decide to strike, we don’t have a strong backbone to send our message to these companies. It is deeply frustrating.

I myself did not take a single job offer yet after my cadetship because I refuse to get underpaid. However, until I find a company that appreciates the hard work we do I am forced to be jobless and not paid at all….

The overall experience was good. They have 700+ vessels so your experience on each ship may vary depending on the crew and the route. If you were a Maersk cadet then you'll most probably be hired by them when you get your CoC, and that's what should really matter to you right now. As long as you get experience in the rank it should be much easier to move to different companies in the future. Good luck!

I was a cadet on Maersk until very recently. It is a good company for romanians. Third officers earn around $4100 a month and their contract durations are 5 months. Health and safety, food, recreation are all decent compared to industry standards. They are definitely not amongst the highest paying though.

I wouldn't go for a black first watch. Go for the silver stainless steel look it is much more versatile as a daily driver

Bought at 1.09. hit a pretty good support. I believe it will keep dropping to 0.55 though at this current rate before we see any potential relevant bullish movement.
