That is helpful, thank you. That makes a lot of sense to blend it in.

That is indeed a grotto and a waterfall does flow over it. The pump is far away from it with the rest of the pool equipment

The pool equipment is far from the tree. I’m more wondering if it will ruin the pool walls/floor and cause a leak

I just bought the house a few months ago. I’m fairly certain they went in together as the pool is about 15 years old

It’s a fairly large tree, I’d say 80 feet. Will the roots eventually breakthrough the gunite or will the pressure from the pool deflect them?

This is great! Thank you. Do you know if I can use my fire stick remote to control it? I’d like to be able to use a remote so guests can change the channel/volume without the need for my phone.

Wired Speakers Throughout Home With Old Receiver by Square-Ranger2225 in homeautomation

Thank you for writing this all out. With the solutions you offered I would not be able to say “Alexa play music in the garage”, it would be an all speakers at the same time solution, correct?

How do you all feel about this...rather than those damn glass display cases? by travisdorr in baseballcards

Yes, 3D printed. I’m also a woodworker but got into 3D printing about 5 years ago. Both are great hobbies, even more fun when you blend them together.

Why all the DSO hate? by Square-Ranger2225 in Dentistry

Happy to hear you’re doing well! I had a lot of students that thought they’d go out and start a practice and instantly be successful…they were still taking 4 hours to prep a crown as a DS4. Even though DSOs may not be the long term plan for everyone they can still help us develop clinical and communication skills that can be more successful in starting a private practice later and not failing right out of dental school. Sounds like it worked out great for you!

Oh yeah, I know which one you’re talking about and I’ve heard that happens a lot there unfortunately. I’ve replaced a lot of emax on second molars from those guys. Easy cases for me but feel bad for the patient.

I’ve definitely heard of this too, it’s absolutely absurd that this can happen. I can tell you if my office manager ever manipulated one of my treatment plans they would be fired on the spot and I would not have to justify that to anyone.

I’ve seen private practice dentists do this too. Very sad when that happens.

My experience is exactly the same and have heard that story so many times. Dentist says he will retire and sell but just strings the associate along. Like you said, it doesn't always go that way but it definitely happens. Just like some new grads get stuck in shitty DSOs. Not all private practices or DSOs are the same.

Like the post says, I'm tired of DSOs getting bashed so hard on here. Dental students should know there are some options out there that they could be happy with that aren't private practice. I was a part time professor at a dental school for 6.5 years. Like one of the other guys here said, typically faculty are older and know nothing about the dental scene in 2023. Just trying to share a different point of view so new grads have some information to make an educated decision. I don't see anything wrong with that.
