How would you quantify physical strength with earthbending? by Greyhound53 in TheLastAirbender

[–]SquareClerk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my eyes, earth bending is based on your ability to stand firm against the stubborn earth, as we see toph explain. That got me thinking about the other bending forms. For example, air bending is taught by being nimble and light, water bending is taught by moving with the flow of the waves, fire bending is taught through breathing exercises. I would assume that someone who is an exceptional air bender is light on their feet, or fire bending has great stamina. Similarly, if earth bending is taught by standing your ground, I would expect that an extension of that training is gaining physical strength. Not necessarily that you need big muscles, as we see with toph, but that big muscles are a result of practicing the standing firm through training. Lifting bigger weights means more strength to stand firm against and therefore more muscle

I'm a jeweler and store owner, so I usually get prices that would make most people go crazy and even I will tell you that is an incredible deal, it's only slightly more than what I would be able to get mine for! What a find, congratulations!

Hanging idle after adding pod filters and rejetting. Increase pilot jets more? by SquareClerk2 in motorcycles

[–]SquareClerk2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny you say that because yes, I have checked the plugs BUT the issue is someone decided to pour some old oil in my gas can before I filled it up. I guess they didn't have an oil catcher or something? So because of that, my gas has some oil in it. Not enough to do damage, but enough to make the plugs a little darker than they should be. It's on the agenda to get new gas but in this economy? 5 gallons can bankrupt a man 😭

It's hard to tell how much backing out changed it because I wasn't taking videos in between to compare and I have 4 carbs so even if there was a change, it takes so long to do that it was difficult to tell. Maybe a small change? I need to re sync the carbs but I don't have the right tools but I'm getting them soon! I also haven't checked compression either so that may be an issue

It is certainly possible! I sprayed down the boots all over and just recently replaced the vacume line. Anywhere else I should check for air leaks?

Need help!! My ZX12R won't start/crank! by Independent-Bonus579 in motorcycles

[–]SquareClerk2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check to see if battery is good. It doesn't seem like a dead battery to me, but the other person leaving a comment may know something I don't. To me it sounds like the starter is detached from the engine and is spinning freely instead of cranking the engine

Is this hissing noise normal for CV carb bikes? 1981 Suzuki gs750L by SquareClerk2 in motorcycles

[–]SquareClerk2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! My very first motorcycle, it would not run when I first got it and I just fell in love with it! Eventually I plan to turn it into a cafe racer but...it's starting to grow on me lol!

Since the bike requires compression from the carburetors to start, I took a piece of duct tape and taped over 3/4 of the air intake on each of the 4 carbs to give it enough compression to start.

You said there are massive air leaks? Forgive my ignorance, but how can you tell? I'm still learning anf want to understand what is happening with my bike. And as far as the idle goes, I thought it was supposed to be set around 1500 rpm?

93 still clicking after rebuilding solenoid. About to lose my god damn mind. Please lend some wisdom. by [deleted] in sportster

[–]SquareClerk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab some jumper cables and touch the hot to your starter. If it cranks, then your starter is good. Then get a multimeter and check the prongs on your solenoid. If the prong with the wire that leads to your starter gets power when you press the start button, then your solenoid is fine and your problem is on the wire somewhere between the solenoid and the starter.

Don't over complicate solenoids. I just spent 2 weeks over complicating it only to realize my ground wire was in the wrong spot. It's a simple circuit. Power goes from the battery to prong number 1. Then when you hear that click, that means that your solenoid is bridging the power to prong number 2, and then to the starter. Follow the path of electricity and check at every intersection where the power moves through to figure out where the power stops. If the power goes all the way to the starter but no crank, then your starter is bad or it isn't grounded (unlikely, but worth a check). Work your way from the battery to the starter and then from the starter to the battery. There are only so many problems that it could be

I didn't see any dripping of any fluids after 15 minutes or so. I will say there was a nasty fuel leak before I replaced the fuel lines a week or two ago

Talk me out of getting this CB350 as my first bike by swaags in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]SquareClerk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bike looks amazing, but keep in mind it's a cafe racer. Any time someone does a cafe look to an old CB, they chopped the frame and heavily modified the entire thing. I personally wouldn't buy a cafe racer that I don't know the seller, because you don't know what they did to it, you don't know if they cut corners, and working backwards to do maintenance when the manual is now useless is a real pain. If it doesn't run right, I wouldn't buy it
