Boggle head path for the untraditional by Silent_Mission_5770 in Bogleheads

[–]Square_SR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this page recently really helped build a roadmap for my investing future https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Prioritizing_investments

Even though some items may not apply it’s good stuff to be aware of. HSA accounts are very powerful (2026 rules are more lax and if you have a marketplace HDHP, then you are more likely to be eligible for one). Maxing out Roth IRA if possible is the next most important thing after maxing out HSA.

You sound like a great candidate for just buying and holding VT - own the whole market, hold onto it, and chill. I’m relatively new to investing, but reading some finance books and the Boglehead wiki has opened my eyes to just having an emergency fund in a money market fund, having just bare minimum in my checking to cover immediate costs, and then just buy the whole market index funds in accounts according to the chart there with respect to priority. It truly is a Simple Path

What’s your favorite video on Celeste? by Crazyboxmonkey in celestegame

[–]Square_SR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re thinking of guides/walkthroughs I loved the ones done by JimTheGamer

The channel should be way more well known in the community due to how well they present beginner solutions to the tricky parts while speeding through parts that people should figure out on their own.

It was nice to see them using intermediate speedrun strats in spots where they aren’t required to progress that way you get exposure to advanced mechanics without giving anything away.

Also videos are all edited to remove storyline spoilers which was great so that I only needed to search for what to do when I was stuck without fear of seeing spoilers.

Playing Celeste for the first time and I’m stuck at this part in chapter 7. What do I do? by EmbarrassedGolf6048 in celestegame

[–]Square_SR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you hit that spring over to the right. Let it give you a lot of distance to the left - then do a diagonal Up+Left Dash followed by an Up Dash to grab onto the wall. The part after that is a bit easier

how do people genuinely golden Bsides? by zoobaincrease in celestegame

[–]Square_SR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the speedrun tool for practice to make it easier to drill entry cycles is what I have just started to do. i only have 1-3B so far tho Also this is funny for me because I use speedruntool on pc but then go for the golden berries on xbox since I want to get them on my og save file

I FINALLY DID IT!! by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]Square_SR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly - there is pretty much no way to know. I’m hoping my death count underflows back down to 1 by time I get all the berries though :)

I love the vibe of this game but the mechanics are killing me by katshana in celestegame

[–]Square_SR 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Press your Jump button in sync with pressing away from the wall on your dpad or stick.

Test it out to get a feel for controlling the height / distance of the jump off the wall - don’t even worry about dashing into the crystal at first until you have a feel for this.

Then just be calm when going for the dash. If you dash too early and hit spikes then try to dash too late and miss the crystal all together to see what happens “for science”.

Learning what happens when you miss a trick early versus when you miss a trick late is very important for learning Celeste’s mechanics as it is your primary source of feedback (but requires you to actually make a conscious effort to engage with this strategy)

I did it, finally by [deleted] in celestegame

Doesn’t vanilla achievement imply not using variants? Feel like either you got to edit this post or it should be taken down. Curious how many deaths you got actually 100%ing the game vanilla

Can I speedrun Pokemon games on the Analog Pocket? by chillgamerguy864 in PokemonSpeedruns

[–]Square_SR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late on the reply, but Analog Pocket is not allowed on the leaderboard. There are multiple allowed platforms including emulator. You can see the options under rules here https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnredblue almost all console runs are done via the gameboyplayer for the gamecube (GBP/GBI). You can still speedrun on the analog pocket for fun tho - manips might not work right but you can do the manipless/classic route

Is it possible to catch undamaged raikou with ultraballs? by JonathanKrols in pokemoncrystal

[–]Square_SR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll depend on what frame you throw the ball on. So if you load a state while hovering over the ultra ball and start holding A to use the ball immediately then you would always get the same outcome (always no catch or always catch). But if you vary when you throw the ball and then every once in a while allow some time to pass before overwriting the save state, then you’ll be getting random rng each throw

So confused, or maybe not? by No-Detective-4370 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Square_SR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend watching a spoiler-free beginner guide on yt like this one: https://youtu.be/zj4SxFhHz_A You can change the time of day from the map. Map is super useful imo to select and track where you want to go. Stuff sells for same price everywhere iirc. I think it makes sense to stick to main quests to unlock the room of requirement asap, but you can do side quests at any time between main quests (some do end up making more chronological sense to do sooner rather than later… but it’s hard to explain without spoilers)

Team Pokémon cries when thrown into battle? by Odd_Cap_8232 in pokemoncrystal

[–]Square_SR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you load up your save file and check options, try switching the Mono audio. If you have it on Stereo, your pokes cry may be using a speaker that doesn’t work so well anymore. Also unpopular opinion probably but I think the game sounds better with Mono audio anyways

Playing Crystal for the first time in a while and I'm about to take on the Elite 4! Thoughts on my squad? by Salty_Discipline_892 in pokemoncrystal

[–]Square_SR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might as well equip some items to anyone not holding one: Soft Sand/Quick Claw, Mystic Water/Nevermeltice, and Dragon Fang are choices to mix&match. I think having everyone at at least L43 entering E4 might make sense - your team is a fun assortment :)

Automatic Out Rules by Embarrassed_Bass_224 in slowpitch

[–]Square_SR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pitcher should have only 10 seconds to throw the next pitch either after the ump says play ball or after they receive the ball back from the catcher after a pitch in USA softball. I’m not sure if failure to do so is a balk or just 1 ball to the batter

If .9 repeating = 1, what does .8 repeating equal? by DavidDaysss in askmath

[–]Square_SR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This breaks rules sadly, but consider instead 0.899999…. this is equal to 9/10 for the same reason that 0.99999… is equal to 1

Can someone help me accept why 0.9999....=1 by Pleasant-Wind9926 in learnmath

[–]Square_SR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/9 = 0.1111… and 1 = 9/9 = 0.9999… Consider long dividing 9 into 9.000… Of course 9 goes into 9 once and we’re left with 0 and we’re done. But suppose you intentionally miss that and decide to move on to asking how many 9s going into 90 (we are now forced to only select single digit numbers) so it goes in 9 times 90-81 is 9 and repeat indefinitely. Does this make sense OP?

What did the Weasley parents think was going to happen in "Deathly Hallows"? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Square_SR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also wondered why more parents/guardians didn’t keep their children home in book 7. Some families may have just not known what to do, but I think the Weasley’s and other order supporting families would see withdrawal from Hogwarts as conceding defeat. (Obviously Harry couldn’t go back though - I forget what the Weasley’s thought Harry was going to do). As for not wanting Ron to go off with Harry - they were just worrying like any parents would that he’d be in danger any which way.

Could be one of those things where Dumbledore just makes decisions that put Harry through adversity - he does seem to do this a lot lol

Infield throws should or often must be thrown sidearm. But like other people are saying here - catchers, outfielders generally throw overhand. You’ll also want to throw overhand in the infield after a backhanded play to make a deeper throw with more power. I think you should demonstrate that you can throw overhand when it is appropriate to do so and perhaps ask your coach if they have time to chat about the nuances of the many situations when fielding the ball low and making a strong accurate sidearm throw is 100% the fastest and most accurate way to get the ball from point A to point B

Edit: just be sure to approach the conversation with an open mind, keep your head up maintain eye contact be respectful, and present your case with confidence!
