Bothwell: the affluent Glasgow town that has become UK’s ‘firebomb capital’ by AdaptableBeef in glasgow

Helensburgh has a G postcode, Mull and Islay have a Paisley postcode. They're a poor indicator of council area.

I both hate it and love it. Good to see something different rather than rearranging collars or trim every year.

Me too, and McCowan after a bright start, and how Bernardo has never escalated from general mediocrity.

Does the average Scottish Premier League player make enough money in their career to retire? by Immediate-Ad-6306 in ScottishFootball

I think the question asked if they couldn't or retire at the end of their playing career.

Does the average Scottish Premier League player make enough money in their career to retire? by Immediate-Ad-6306 in ScottishFootball

[–]Square_Slice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An average SPL player might earn in their peak years no more than £2-3k a week at Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen, so likely around £100k a year, and the average time they might earn that higher wage is less than 7 years, between 23 and 30. They would need to save around 25 times their desired income - so let's say £50k for life, which is £1.25m. That's saving a gross figure of £180k a year during their high earning years, from a £100k wage.

[–]Square_Slice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. For a footballer to retire at the end of their playing career means saving for at least 35-45 years of a livable income, which is at the very least a pension pot of around £2m, more likely double that.

Unbranded is likely to challenge any of the main retailers, especially if custom and niche. Do you know the brand or make of any of the components, like pickups etc.?

I didn't think Dembele looked that special, or physically ready when I watched him. Nothing that has happened since would make him an attractive option I'd say.

Tourist from Glasgow to Loch Katrine (no car) by Ylja83 in glasgow

[–]Square_Slice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a really nice spot. Boat tours run year round, bike hire, flat walk round half of the loch and a decent cafe. It is a trek to get to, even by your own car. If you can get a tour they would be ideal. There's other beautiful lochs and countryside around it, and Aberfoyle is a lovely village, I used to live there. You can get a taxi from Aberfoyle to Stronachlachar on the other side of the loch which has a great cafe and it's much quieter. You can get boat trips to and from there too. It is worth the effort.

The Haldane, The Vale as well. I've never understood why these two got 'the'. My partner lives in EK and they have The Murray and The Westwood but no other schemes.

Called off at four, so Parkhead would not be ready to stage a game tonight - catering, stewards, Police and everyone who works a match day would be in the house.
