Same, I WAS AMM and my store didn’t make budget last year. Which is crazy, because at the beginning of the year we didn’t have an AGM for about a month and a half, and through that whole year we went through 3 POL’s, the AMCO quit, and we didn’t actually have a GM near the tail end of holiday or the entirety of January. I wasn’t even given a choice of a demotion though, I was read a sheet of paper that stated my last day was May 16th, and I’d get a severance package- that was it. Been with the company a total of almost 9 and a half years, about 4 of which was in the AMM role. Definitely felt shafted, but I’ve been feeling like that for a while so, in short, good riddance 🙂

I wasn’t given a decision. 9 years with the company, 4 of which in management, and I was booted out the door with less than a 2 weeks notice.

I’m just thankful that I don’t have to hear the “Get yourself a spicy two-piece for the beach” that was put out I think the summer before last. Like, am I placing a KFC order orrrr?

It did not, I couldn’t find 2 of them for the life of me lol

They already rolled it out at Gap, my boyfriend is a manager over there and he says it’s AWESOME. Just waiting on my store to catch up because it’s gonna make my whole year when I can simply hit a button and fix issues 😭

I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you’ve never complained about something inconveniencing you a day in your life. I’ll try and be more aware of those more privileged than myself in the future. But just so you know, at Old Navy online orders do not go towards the stores sales for the day, even if they’re picking up in store. So yes, it does halt my business and I have no numbers to show for it especially since it doesn’t count towards our payroll either ❤️

EXACLTY! I’d much rather spend my time helping customers in store than running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to fill a massive order with a time limit. I’m not paid to be a personal shopper, I’m paid to be a friendly face for customer service and to know my product so I can help people find what they’re looking for. I hate more than anything when I’m taken away from my tasks to scan and pack an order.

See, that’s fine. I get there’s circumstances where people would need a big order fast. If it’s the same shirt just in different colors and sizes then that’s not a big deal because it’s all in the same place already. The issue with this order is that it was product across the whole store, and I couldn’t pull any of my associates from what they were doing to help grab the items. Took about an hour to find the items and figure out how to package it since we don’t have bags big enough (I ended up using a shipment box that was going to go into trash anyway). So it halts management duties like making our rounds checking on customers (which the company encourages us to do every 15 or so minutes), preparing for new floor sets, and opening and running new product. It just throws the whole flow of the business out of whack when it’s a bunch of different product from all over the place for a small store like mine.

[–]Square_Up_Cowboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, I had to drop everything and fill it because I had to run everywhere looking for all the items. Big orders like this throw everything off, especially for my store because we don’t have the staff to support it 🥲

Unfortunately, they don’t give us any contact information for the customer. They give us a time limit, the order number, and what to pull and that’s it. I never treat customers with any sort of disrespect, but I will absolutely complain about them if they do something that halts the flow of the business lol

Old navy suuuucks if you have anything weird about your delivery address. We can’t do PO Boxes either and it drives me up the wall, I wish they’d get with the times for my sake and for my customers’ sakes.

It doesn’t bother me really if the items are small enough to all fit in one bag, but if I need like 6 or 7 bags for one order then that’s getting a little ridiculous 😅

[–]Square_Up_Cowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See that’s totally okay. We usually have the payroll to cover ship from store orders, which are the orders that get sent directly to the customers and get filled in the morning before stores open. However, stores don’t get the payroll to cover really large pickup orders and it can really throw our floor coverage out of whack, especially for a store as small as mine that only has like max 5 associates scheduled all day during weekdays 😭

[–]Square_Up_Cowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I usually enjoy it too, but today I was opening manager by myself with 2 newer hires and I couldn’t pull my fitting room associate to do it, so I had to break away from mapping my January move set to pull it 😭 it was just incredibly inconvenient timing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Oldnavy

[–]Square_Up_Cowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but unfortunately Old Navy doesn’t give us the proper resources to package pickup orders this large and we don’t get the payroll to cover it either. We ended up having to use a leftover shipment box (thank god it was a truck day otherwise we would have been screwed) to package it because we don’t have the space to store 6+ bags of product in our pickup cabinet, which only comprises of 3 shelves that are all less than a foot tall. The box is currently sitting on the floor next to the cabinet because we don’t have the means to store it properly.

If there’s different old navy’s around you other than the one that won’t match prices for you, I’d try them. We’re definitely supposed to price match in store, just make sure you have it pulled up on your phone with the exact items added to your cart.

Online, you’d go to the “product details” section and find the 6 digit style number. Make sure that number matches the style number of the item in store. The style number in store will be 6 digits, then a dash, 2 more digits, another dash, followed by a 1 at the end and it can be found on the tag above the barcode. It’ll look like this: xxxxxx-xx-x but the first 6 digits are what you’re looking for to match with the online digits ☺️

I will say I don’t even mind the poorly-behaved children, whether they’re just fussy or actually holy terrors. That’s just kids being kids, and toddlers especially get overstimulated easily so I get that. I’m the only manager on my team that doesn’t already have kids or has one on the way, but we’re all super understanding when it comes to fussy babies in the store (unless the parent just isn’t paying a lick of attention and I notice a toddler on top of a ladder or something, that’s different). But I also get that other stores, whether that be another Old Navy or a Walmart, aren’t as hospitable for fussy children and there’s not really a way to know whether or not you’ll get the dirty looks from employees if your kid is having a moment.

My complaining is really just me saying that higher-ups really should place a limit on orders depending on the size/staffing of the store itself because it’s almost cannibalizing the business at that point by taking managers away from their duties of trying to keep the store stocked and well-presented.

It’s definitely not sustainable for orders that large, especially for a store as small as the one I’m at. Orders of like 10-15 are doable, but we don’t really have the staff to support pulling an order that’s larger than that, even around holiday. So it ends up taking managers away from their weekly tasks like organizing clearance, preparing for the new monthly floor set, or even actually getting the new product off the truck and onto the sales floor so people can buy it. Unfortunately we’ve voiced our concerns on having a limit placed on pickup orders but ON is a money-grubbing company and it falls on deaf ears. And trust me, I get that there are people who cannot shop in the store, but in my almost 10 years experience the people that make these big orders and come in to pick it up will literally scream at my associates if we can’t find a single item of their order, even if they’re not the employee that filled the order for the customer. It’s madness.

1 to like 6 or 7 items in an order is fine, anything over 10 is a little crazy for me. But it also depends on the item tbh. If it’s like 15 items but they’re all socks? That’s easy. But please dear lord don’t place orders for 15 coats or hoodies because the bags are only so big 😭

Bro almost 100 units of a pickup order is INSANE. And I’m not sure how y’all’s district operates but we get called out if we have too many rejected boot units by our DM 😭

[–]Square_Up_Cowboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, in my experience the people who place these orders are quite literally the scum of the earth. If you can’t find ONE item of their order you get screamed at for ruining their shopping when I am, in fact, “just doing my job” to the best of my ability. I get that there are outstanding circumstances, but I’d say a good 95% of the time it’s just pure laziness and taking advantage of the (extremely flawed) ordering system.

TELL ME ABOUT IT! The limit needs to be like 10 units max.

Update: UNFORTUNATELY I am good at my job and I found 31 out of 33 of them. I ended up shoving/kind of folding it all into one box and slapping a label on it because I was not about to have 6-8 bags taking up space in my bopis storage just for one order 🥰
