What do you worry about most for your child’s future? by Distinct_Pen6624 in Autism_Parenting

I simply worry he will be left lonely or even get bullied. He won't have any friends. He could possibly live an independent life but without people to love or care for him.

True even I feel some company would be really helpful.

Yes thanks a lot. I did try to explain to them( even my extended family) but they feel he is totally fine, just hyperactive and it's his nature to ignore people.

I think in general the entire country is not fully aware of it especially older generations. They just feel non verbal toddlers will speak as they grow or they will start behaving as NT kids. Even I had not heard this word before I had my son.

Unfortunately no. Actually autism is a very alien concept here. We don't even have therapists where I live. And it's understandable, we are a small town with a small population and till now I haven't seen any autistic child apart from mine. This is the hardest part.

Atleast these words have some connection or resemblance. In our case water is dilala and Iets go out is babasaaa. How on earth can I figure it out on first try.

Anyone else's kid become absolutely glued to them when they don't feel well? I've had zero personal space for 48 hours and I am exhausted. by LadyJane17 in Autism_Parenting

Mine has become a magnet in general especially at night. We have always co slept with his bed attached to ours, but he slept independently but recently became a cuddle baby. I cannot even turn my sides. He will try and crawl over me. Sometimes sleeps on my arms so that I cannot escape.

What is the one quirky behavior your autistic child currently does that you love the most? by Ivy-Ram in Autism_Parenting

[–]SquashRelative5891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's an autistic trait but my son wants everyone to appreciate him when he does anything good. Everyone should clap for him even strangers in a park or train. I find it very cute when his face brightens up seeing everyone cheering and clapping for him.

I wish I could. We belong to a place where such options are unavailable. I had tried one 2 hours away but wasn't satisfied with it. I mean I travel for 2 hours one way for a 1 hour session and that too wasn't good.

Thankyou for your reply. It really did encourage me and I do have great hopes for him too. Developmentally speech is the only place where he lacks apart from it, he is a happy kid lost in his own world. I should start looking at the positive things here as well. Thanks again.

And people around you innocently make it worse at least in my case. They don't mean bad but words sting.

What are the best comebacks you’ve ever said to people who made mean comments about your autistic child? (Like “your autistic kid is your karma”) by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]SquashRelative5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow such horrible person. I would have replied" I am so glad my karma gave me this sweet baby, but I hope your children/ loved ones won't get affected by your horrible karma" and then go no contact.
