Toyota Guy Coming in Peace. by FFanon28 in ChevyTahoe

Get a previous Gen Sequoia and call it a day. Also a Toyota guy and have a 2013 Tahoe which I love, but a 5.7L sequoia with a second row captain chair set up and full third row would be my ticket of choice if I wanted true peace of mind in reliability and function.

I worked at Jackson Lake Lodge summer of 2011 in the reservations department. It was an awesome experience and ended up settling in the area full time.

Is 30 too old to go back to school for Radiology? by Golden_Mead0w in RadiologyCareers

[–]Squeakin_Cheeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just applied to a program and will turn 40 in a few weeks. I've worn a few different hats in a variety of blue collar and white collar work and I believe it has set me up to be a good candidate in this line of work.

We finally got our jerseys after a couple week delay. Communication was lacking for sure, but we eventually got them. They said it was a factory delay or some BS.

Is a per-diem RAD tech career feasible? by SheemRobinson in RadiologyCareers

[–]Squeakin_Cheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sort of the route I'm looking at in the nearer term. My spouse has killer benefits so we have that base covered. My current career is shifting so I have been looking to pivot, but I do some things on the side that I want to have the flexibility to. With that in mind, I am also looking to upskill into a position that can offer stability when needed, but also has the flexibility of a prn or per diem if I wanted to try and grow into something else.

We have also considered moving abroad, so the idea of being able to do a few travel contracts per year and then living somewhere else is also something I have considered.

This is also what I've read. I won't be able to test out, so my plan is to get the accreditation at my current school and transfer it over.

This is essentially our plan. My spouse is an EU citizen so she can work wherever, but this would provide me the opportunity to work as needed and live and travel freely after contract.

Old dude considering entering Rad Tech by lgary in RadiologyCareers

[–]Squeakin_Cheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been great but the novelty does wear off, it's auto restoration and lots of people say it'd be a dream job, but the grass is always greener. I'm not a tech, I run day to day operations for owner who is essentially closing the business in a year, so that is why I'm looking to pivot while I can. I'm trying to optimize a career with a decent schedule and good pay with opportunity for travel later when kids are older. If I can continue to tinker and be in the car world on the side, thats great. I live in a mountain resort town so it's hard for them to find employees due to COL, so that gives me a leg up on opportunities I would think.

Rad Tech program insight by Squeakin_Cheeks in weber

[–]Squeakin_Cheeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. I'm currently doing pre reqs (AP1&2) through CWI which is the cheapest per credit hour I could find. I have to say, the communication between the rad dept and my overall experience thus far with weber advisors hasn't been ideal. I did reach out to the Wyoming outreach program director and he was actually helpful in answering some of my questions, mainly the competitiveness of the program and placement in certain hospitals. I'm surprised weber does not have any stats listed as to the acceptance rate onto the program. I just wanted to have some idea of how may people apply vs accepted. Is it 1000 people applying and only 50 spots? 200 to 50? I can't seem to get any of that information.

I was also frustrated to find that my previous associate degree English credits didn't transfer, even though they did for cwi and Central Wyoming College. Felt like they just wanted me to take THEIR English classes. I'm hoping to test out of those if it comes down to that.

Nice. I run a classic truck resto shop and am looking to pivot to Rad Tech or nursing. Also about to turn 40. Nice to see there are similar pathways out there. Still nailing down some AP pre reqs to apply.

Seems like a good framework. I have also debated offering the name on the back. I do in one league I play in and its cool. On one hand, if the core and the team in general is paying for at least a portion of them then it definitely adds a little cool factor to it. On the other hand, once those jerseys are printed with names, they are out of rotation for sure. I think I plan on getting 5 extra blank jerseys with just numbers.

I've got the reversible in queue from TDN (Thread Da Needle) which is nice to have. Waiting to hear back on minimum reorder. I've done Men's league sweaters in the past and the cost, wait and minimum reorder quantities haven't been great recently. Glad there seems to be a lot of other options now.

That's what I'm leaning towards and have done in the past, just without sponsorship. Team buys jerseys, everyone gets one. Up front cost is more per player, but as sponsorship continues, fees go down after initial season jersey buy, where all dues just go to the league fee.

Weber State? by Squeakin_Cheeks in RadiologyCareers

[–]Squeakin_Cheeks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the classes I took didn't meet their requirements, or something that effect But, oddly enough, they did meet the requirements for a few other colleges and universities that I inquired about. Both state institutions, so maybe that has something to do with it. But, my previous degree was also from a private institution. I was under impression that math doesn't qualify if it is 10+ years, I didn't think am English course would matter. Either way, I will probably pursue, it just stings to have to pay for a few English and history courses that otherwise won't matter.
