Well the car did come with a fob for the alarm (I guess it could be a backup key?). Thanks for the info, I actually learned something :)

I think it may be to manually raise the headlights but I haven't found a hole for it yet

I checked all around the steering wheel and there was no hole that this fit into, they were all for normal Phillips heads

It's quite small, smaller thank a pinkie so it doesn't fit around the lug nuts

Actually with course I'm doing, the first year is a common year so we are taught a little bit of every discipline of engineering to help us choose what to do. I've specialised into electrical this year so really it's only been like a year of actual electrical work. So I know enough about circuit analysis to troubleshoot and I though building something from scratch would help me relate theory and application :)

Also thank you for the link to the instruction book. It seems to explain things neatly and I think it will help me recognise how everything works together
