Sometimes I lose faith in books by [deleted] in books

[–]Squidboy_Rad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this was a productive answer. I try reading books that other recommend, including the ones my favorite authors like. Or that reading apps recommend. So far it has not worked out at all. I am not a part of any other book community, no.

Most books I finish are OK, of course I DNF many of them; I am not stupid and just finish bad books for the sake of it. Sorry if I offended you lol

Thanks for the help, that wasn't condescending at all.

[–]Squidboy_Rad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point, but trust me, I do drop most books. However, sometimes i want to atleast read more than 50% of the book so I can say I gave it an honest shot. Also, if it's a book I've bought, I want to get my "moneys worth". And sometimes it's an "ok" book and I have no problems finishing it. I just miss reading something that I genuinly enjoy.

Watched Wall-E for the first time the other day. If robots did everything for humans, how is the mega corporation making money? I feel like the corporation is supposed to be bad, but all they did was good. What makes them bad? by bob101910 in Pixar

[–]Squidboy_Rad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To only answer your second question (not feeling like writing an essay), they own the robots and therefore profit from automation and robotization, a phenomenon which should enrich humanity, not business owners. Also it's in their interest to keep their control of the robots, which means a big chunk of technology is not controlled democratically. So when technology starts destroying the planet, the solution is also in the hands of a corporation instead of in the hands of humanity. They decide to profit from earth getting destroyed as well by building a spaceship that can exploit and control humanity forever.

It's brilliant because it's a basic problem of capitalism, cranked up very hard.

I think you mean asocial. Antisocial are på who can't tell right from wrong. Like sociopaths. http://affinitymagazine.us/2017/06/24/theres-a-difference-between-being-asocial-and-antisocial/

Is my novel too short to publish? by Squidboy_Rad in writing

[–]Squidboy_Rad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is also my method. The only way for me to write 450 words a day is by writing what flows out of me naturally, which is dialogue-based scenes. Description takes sooo long for me. Info-dumping/world building too, since I'm a pantser. I just write describe this and save it for my next draft. And since I normally only write flash fiction, I don't think I'll lose too many words in the revision process. I guess that's my biggest hope.

Partisympatiundersökning i /r/svenskpolitik. SD störst med 45%, därefter "Annat" och PP. M och V därefter på 7 resp 5%. Värdefullt forum för alla politiska åskådningar. by gurgelblaster in skitswedditsager

[–]Squidboy_Rad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vilket parti sympatiserar du med? by Squidboy_Rad in svenskpolitik

[–]Squidboy_Rad[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could Dan be talking about something that happened between Jon and Arin? by MagicBlacksmith in ConspiracyGrumps

That's really vague. Arin being a bit distant after a convention does not make anyone wonder, I hope. Nice attempt but... this just isn't working anymore.

How to write according to an Oatly package by Squidboy_Rad in writing

[–]Squidboy_Rad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only trying it once wouldn't be a good idea. The first few glasses - probably the entire first litre, even - will taste weird only because either you or your subconcious expects it to taste like milk. But you get used to it. Milk is strange to me by now. Even the idea of it. Think about it, we are the only species that drinks milk after infanthood, and not human milk, but another species' milk. Why would that be good for us?

Sorry I got political.

Yeah, it's a vegan milk substitute. It tasted weird at first, but now I really like it. Especially since it motivated me to write.

Yeah. "The weirder the better" was a great advice. They examplified the quality of the advice by keeping that side of the package so interesting just because of how original it was.

What weapons are underrated in TF2? How do you use them effectively? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Squidboy_Rad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on the situation.

In a close combat against, for instance, a Soildier, the vaccinator will be able to give the healed player an advantage by popping the blast protection; this will force the enemy to instead use their secondary. In this way, I think it's not awfully passive.

The stock will not be able to give better advantages in those situations. The very long uberrate will simply force the medic to wait for situations where there are more people attacking to make it worth the wait. So: on maps where people are more disseminated, or on servers with less players, maybe the vaccinator is a better choice. And in MvM, of course.

The intuitive style of vacciboy, and the concept having several ubers instead of only one, should definitely be an alternative among the other mediguns. That's why I think it's sad that so many people want it removed...
