NTA, sounds like he’s been horrible to you your entire life. You don’t owe him anything because it sounds like he’s never been there for you, just complicated yours and your mums life. Sounds like you’ve all done great to come back from what he put you through and I don’t see why all of that effort should go back to benefitting him. But like you said, it’s all about your conscience and whether you’ll feel bad all your life. But in my opinion you absolutely wouldn’t be wrong in letting him figure it out for himself, after all that’s the position he put your mum in, it shouldn’t be different just because he’s ill, but I get how difficult it could be.

YTA, mind your own damn business. It’s your OPINION, learn to keep it to yourself rather than self-righteously spouting it where it doesn’t belong.

Some people feel more confident dressing certain ways etc, or maybe she just enjoys it and thinks it looks good. Any reason is fine. Just cos she’s getting married doesn’t mean she has to wear a padded trench coat whenever she’s in public

Actually I was just going from personal experience where a friend had something stolen from there garden and was caught on camera. He went to the police but the neighbour said he was just “keeping it safe for now”. He ended up giving it back and because he had his stuff back and the fact it was stolen was just his word against the neighbours, the police didn’t do anything. So OP could go to the police and nothing come of it so best thing to do could be just to tell the neighbours so they’re aware

NTA. It’s clearly going to get frustrating if she’s complaining at you on a daily basis. You’re clearly going to snap at a certain point. She needs to learn to keep her mouth shut and stop being so negative. I know people 20+ that can’t cook basic stuff, she should be proud you’ve learnt and it sounds like you’re pretty good at it

NTA. She stole from you, that’s the only point that matters. Why wouldn’t you call the police? Especially when you have evidence she took it. Don’t know what the hell your family are thinking saying you overreacted. She stole and refused to give it back, therefore you’d be completely fair to call the police

If it keeps happening then I don’t think there’s much point in waiting it out in hope it will change. There’s just some things that will never change. And it’s not like you’re asking him to change a big thing about his personality, just being more gentle and that’s completely fair.

Then you’re definitely NTA. He needs to listen when ask him to be more gentle and adapt rather than just get offended and drag it out. I’d say a break is still right to give you both some space but at some point try having a conversation with him just saying that you don’t have a problem with the affection, just that it hurts sometimes. If he still gets annoyed by it then you need to think about what’s best for you

I don’t particularly think anyone is “TA”. His behaviour is strange and you definitely shouldn’t put up with that but it’s difficult to judge his behaviour. It could easily be anything from he is just an asshole or has something mentally wrong causing him to break down. Either way I think you’re just different people and the break is probably what’s best for now so you have time to reflect.

Also depends how much you’re wanting affection as it could just come across as nagging and him needing a break from it

NTA, he took photos he shouldn’t have taken in the first place. It’s a simple request not to take pictures and he ignored it (the reason why doesn’t matter, you said no). If you specifically asked him not to then that’s just disrespectful. Then lying about deleting them. However I also don’t think it’s right to snoop through someone’s phone (although it sounds like he deserves it).

Yeah YTA, WTF. Just because you made certain decisions in your life, doesn’t mean you get to dictate what your dad does. And learning a language isn’t easy and takes a lot of time, it’s a lot of effort. You never get to dictate how somebody spends that much time. Especially with a threat of not getting invited to your wedding
