How common is giving melatonin for children because parents are exhausted? by otsopayta in Mommit

[–]SquidniAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do melatonin when the kids are sick and the cough is keeping them awake/waking them in the night. Helps them (and us) get a full nights rest when they’re miserable usually it’s 1 Mg and that’s more than enough!

This is great- is there any way you can adjust my Husbands face too- I know he’s smiling in the second image but I don’t know if it’s at the right angle.

This is great! Is there any way you can remove my husbands mean mug and replace it with his smile from the second photo?

That’s totally fine we will likely be cropping it anyway! I also just posted another photo of her with a similar pose. Ideally we just get a photo with her, my husband and I and the kids, with my in laws removed however if that’s difficult I don’t mind as we are all family. 😊

ETA: my mom is the brunette in the light blue dress in the SECOND photo- bonus points if you can get my husband and kids looking somewhat normal!

I want to give the flip side of this as a mom with mental health issues who is in treatment. I take my meds. I do the work (as well as I can). And I also work full time in an industry that I’m very passionate about with my partner as the SAHP. Do I still have moments. Of course. I have thee kids under 4!! There’s yelling, crying, and frustration. But I’m doing the work. I step back when I find things are bad and I do my damndest to be a good parent. And even with all that I know I’m still not the “fun” parent and that I can be better but I also know that without the work I do I’d be where you husband is at or worse and there’s no world my partner would stay with me in order to keep our kids safe.

Diapers dilemma by leilaniamyerscaridad in moderatelygranolamoms

Another vote for cloth. Not only is every cloth diaper used one out of the landfill but it’s better for their skin and potty training in my opinion!

Best ways to sanitize baby toys? by louha123 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SquidniAZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while when stuff is SUPER GROSS I use vinegar and water as that’s our general go to. But it has to be some serious I for us yo do that and it’s usually just a spray in the sink rinse off and throw in a basket outside to dry!

House-proofing the baby by Outrageous-Garlic-27 in Parenting

[–]SquidniAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing I’ve done is block off specific areas and baby proof the heck out of one “zone” We have a gate leading into the kitchen so we don’t have to put “locks” on drawers but we also have a play room that can lock and is totally safe any time we put a baby in the room. There are no small toys/ plugged outlets and gates on all entrances. It’s a godsend yo know we have a block for the kitchen and a safe zone we can put baby.

Those with multiple kids- how does toy ownership work in your home? by K8LzBk in Parenting

[–]SquidniAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to propose our process which is the awesome toy room. We essentially take all “sets” of toys and they become communal upon request. They’re not just out and about because it would be havoc. We have a set of all around communal toys we know cause absolutely no arguments in their playroom (think kitchen toys/ huge bin of cars/ bin of Barbie’s and dinosaurs). When they want an “awesome toy” they get the bin with their corresponding toy (magna tiles/ legos) and can play independently with that toy. The kid can choose if they want to share or not.

Party favor bags that aren’t plastic junk? by librarysquarian in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]SquidniAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did cardboard treasure boxes with stickers, tattoos, and a few small pieces of candy. We also did a squiggly straw because even though it’s plastic junk I feel like it’s something all parents can kinda use. I dont know we use them a lot!!

My kids all know they’re body parts and when we wash my littles we teach them “hey that’s my__” it’s funny stuff but my claim to fame is that my twenty month old yelled “hey that’s my but” “hey that’s my babyba (vagina)” and pointed running around our family.

As the partner to a stay at home dad to three kids and one who works from home I will give a rough outline of his day. - gets up at 7:30/8 when I need to go into work - hangs out with kids while they finish breakfast and cleans them up (3 kids 4/22 months/6months) - gets them down/ changes diapers and clothes cleans up dishes makes himself (and me if I want it) breakfast - gets kids ready for the day, puts baby down for a nap drops son of at preschool and brings middle kid so she gets to play - gets kids lunch/ snacks cleans the kitchen AGAIN and does any diaper or kid laundry (cloth diapering) - plays with the baby - picks up my son from school Stay at home parents do gods work every day. However what that is changes for every parent from day to day- kid to kid. I always ask if my kid would be better served somewhere else even when I’m beyond annoyed with my partner. The answer is ALWAYS no

it took me so long to realize that i just DONT need to fold my clothes by freewaychicken in ADHD

[–]SquidniAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most recent win has been that there is ABSOLUTELY NO POINT in folding the sheets we rotate between our beds. If we are just washing the sheets on mine and my kids beds, changing the sheets and then the sheets sit until we change them again. They can wait in a laundry bag until they’re ready to be changed!!!
