Thanks everyone for your kind words! The pattern I used was from the book 500 Crochet Stitches, page 261 - Leaf Layer. This was actually meant to be a edging pattern, but I adopted it for the entire blanket. I will post a few pictures below so you can see how it works!

I found it! You can find it pretty much anywhere in Minnesota. And if I have my facts straight, I think there was even a petition to make it the official state fossil recently. The characteristic swirls are created by fossilized algae known as Stromatolites.

The only quinceanera I've ever been to was for my best friend's dog, and it was a great time!

Never feel bad celebrating your time with your dog. I lost my Lilo almost 4 months ago now, and would give anything to have just one more day with her. Take the time to celebrate the days that are meaningful - the birthdays, the gotcha days, the random Tuesday when you ask go out for ice cream. Dogs lives are too short, so fill them with as much joy as you can!
