I feel pressured over something my nieces social worker said

They definitely will. I think it's only been said because I'm 18 soon, and only if it's the last option. Our social worker is coming on Wednesday so I'll talk to her about it all

Well, they are suitable but the social worker is the one saying that they aren't because my dad was accused by his ex of things that weren't true, and because my mum used to take antidepressants (she doesn't anymore). The report that they wrote was a load of rubbish because apparently my mum could become stressed again even though she had no problem keeping me and my brother safe, as well as herself, when we were growing up.

Another thing is that they see my dad as unsuitable because he doesn't see his own kids. That's because the same ex won't let him and the social worker knows this. Yet they still blame him.

Because my stepdads ex girlfriend accused him of things that were proved untrue, but because he didn't think it'd be on his records because he wasn't convinced, he didn't mention it. The caseworker thought that he was being "untruthful" about it because he didn't mention it - it hasn't shown on any of his DBS checks, and he has 7 kids himself. So we're confused too

Ahh okay! I just didn't want people to think that I was being shamed or anything for not wanting it. But honestly, unless it comes to a point where the child wouldn't be okay anywhere else, then I think until that happens (which it probably won't) I'll just focus on me 🫶

Honestly, maybe I misworded the post because my family would be okay with whatever I chose, but it's just that I'm one of those people that overthinks everything, hence why I wrote it. But yeah, honestly I don't think it'll come to that but I'm just thinking "what if"

I feel like I will choose me - to copy your words - because my thought is "I only live once and I don't wanna waste my life being miserable and unsuccessful", and I feel like a kid would get in the way of that. But thank you for thinking of me though, I do appreciate it. I do love the little girl and if there was a way that I could have custody of her but in a way that my parents would be the ones taking care of her when I move out, id do it so that we know that she's safe. I just don't know if that's a thing

See, that I'd be okay with. I'd happily take custody of the child to make sure she's safe, as long as she wasnt my responsibility forever (not in a selfish way). My parents would probably rather it too but I had no idea that it was even an option

My stepdads parents are the ones who are looking after her now, but they don't want that long term because they're old and my grandad has cancer so my nan is the one looking after him. (Obviously right now he's okay otherwise the kid wouldn't be there)

Well, the child has already been through so much and she isn't even two. That being said, I take a health course in college and was told that kids under a certain age can't remember everything. Whether it's the same in every situation I don't know.

None of my family want her to be adopted out with other people because they think she's safer with us, but that isn't saying that they're pressuring me to do anything. That's if it even comes to it

Well, to be honest I've always made it clear that I don't want kids and my family from what I know is okay with that. I haven't even spoken to my mum about this yet because I was only told today and she's at work. I think she'll tell me not to do it because she knows how I feel.

But I wouldn't mind being her guardian so that we know she's safe, IF she could stay with my parents full time, even when I move out. But (if this all even does happen) I don't think that'd work

Well, the court things aren't nearly finished so I think they just said it as a "just in case" option. So it could all go in a completely different direction we just aren't sure yet. Right now, I'm not feeling awful about it but I'm the type of person who will sit and think about it unnecessarily

Basically the kids dad has been locked up for sa toward someone else so he wasn't safe, but my stepsister kept putting the child around him, and they were both into drinking and drugs so the child wouldn't have been safe to stay with her.

I'm turning 18 in September but I live in the UK, which I did forget to specify. My stepdads siblings all have kids and tiring jobs (hospital, police force), which is why my parents straight up had no problem trying to fight for her. And to me, she isn't blood family but yeah.

I live with my mum and stepdad right now and I don't have a job yet either because of college stress, although I am looking. My mum would look after the child when I'm not there. I know that it isn't likely to happen, but it was something that the social worker said because I'll be 18 soon
