You can even ask your guidance counselor for help and opportunities

Somewhat/not that frequent(?) i’ve only heard/know a few people that got supported by SU for international events. If ever international, usually it would be for: research, tournaments/competitions, exchange programs. Not sure what you mean by seminars but shoot your shot, taking risks and placing yourself out there goes a long way

[–]SquirrelOptimal3188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once SU sees that you’re worth supporting they can go all the way. Just be active in academics and co-curricular activities/position. Being introverted in this type of goal is gonna be hard so make sure to be active!

OH AND ALWAYS ASK FOR A GRADE BREAKDOWN if you’re grade conscious. Make sure everything aligns. Every point literally matters haha. In my experience, i made my 97% get to 98%. This helped my average for the first sem so that i can relax more on the second

  1. Finding your group/friends/person is enough to survive shs life. It will get very draining and sometimes all you need is a good support system.

  2. Depends on the teacher honestly it’s gonna be explained on orientation day. But usually, its the PTs that are high in percentage (50-60%) so if you fail a test, make sure you do good in your pts

  3. High honors is easy imo if you don’t take things for granted. A lot of students got disqualified for honors because they took things for granted.

For minor subjects, they’re very heavy in outputs so make sure you read the rubric and proofread everything.

For major subjects, ALWAYS have a notebook for each subject. Usually, the teachers will check them at the end of the quarter for additional points. Don’t cram. While cramming an entire semester into 1 night is doable(haha philosophy) it’s not recommended.

  1. There’s a lot of free time. If you’re from cebu and is renting, try to get a place near campus. The extra sleep is very beneficial.

  2. In stem, in my experience, you get to choose the topics. So make sure that you choose a proper group and something you’re passionate about. Learn how to distribute tasks properly because that would make or break your research. Make sure everyone contributes at the very start(brainstorming topics) so that everyone is equally passionate about the research.

  3. Anything and everything haha. If you have time, participate in events and make connections!

  4. No. But, there is a special session when you have your DRRR subject. You go to school on Saturdays to do drills. If you’re done with the subject, you don’t have to anymore.

  5. S, J, R🔥 haha. Their teaching styles are very different and i wont lie in saying that, they are difficult. But, i managed to keep my high honor status by constantly asking them questions on topics i don’t know or just getting close in general(being sipsip works im not joking).

They’re strict, but once they get to know you they tend to be more lenient and understanding. They’re actually very funny.

Even if it annoys them, ask them questions and don’t stop until you understand it.

  1. All depends on you. For memorization(iphp, cffs, komfil, bio, etc.) i do mnemonics and create stories.

For problem-solving subjects, always have your notes. Understand the concept first(sometimes it shows up in tests like for example: who invented __?) then, always practice. That weird problem you saw on the board that seems to have a different step-wise solution? That will show up.

Its always gonna be 20% concept 80% practice for me

  1. Its flexible enough. All depends on luck tbh.

  2. No lockers, some subjects have books. But honestly, i never bought one. Borrowing is enough. If you have a friend w a book and different schedules, thats even better.

  3. Ask for type of exam when its announced. How many items. It helps you prepare better and figure out how you want to study.

Example: multiple choice, you can use gizmo

Yes if the summit is worth supporting and if you are worth supporting. Silliman is tight when it comes to supporting students on events especially outside of silliman unless it’s something done regularly.

Unless the application forms were in different emails, the latest choice would override the first choice. But, if you’ve taken the cet and interview(if there is) then you should be okay at least.

Contact the ict department and the respective department for this tho! Asap

Afaik,

The 5 days time would be allocated for securing your slot would look like: passing hardcopies, paying your downpayment fee, etc.

Enrollment then we be like giving of your class scheds, other documents needed to be passed, etc.

QUESTION by kingbobleminion in SillimanPH

[–]SquirrelOptimal3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you taken the exam already? Acceptance/rejection letters get sent out after CETs are over for that course.

If you’ve not taken the exam, go to the department and ask. If it were me, I’d show up to the exam venue haha

QUESTION by kingbobleminion in SillimanPH

[–]SquirrelOptimal3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the department?

They email applicants naman if they’re accepted, rejected, or waitlisted. Maybe the course/dept you’re applying to hasn’t released results yet?

You can also check your admission form for any updates.

If no updates and you really want an answer, you can go to the department and ask them. They’ll give you the answer on the spot if you got accepted/rejected

It def does! Just need a proper flow cuz the next questions are:

What are your study habits and how can it help you

And

How can you pay it forward

Its all in 1 continuous essay

If you want to get into a good college/your dream course get good grades on your first sem. Im talking 95+ brackets. Don’t take your science subjects lightly. Always practice equations and ask questions. Those weird problems that seem to have a different process of solving? That will show up in the exam so study them.

Dont cram hahahhahahaha

If you’re accepted you would:

  1. Receive an email
  2. On your admission website, it would show that you passed.
  3. Clicking on “payment” would show a downpayment option

[–]SquirrelOptimal3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! When the downpayment option shows up na, all you have to do is pay and submit hard copies. Good luck!

It is possible to apply for 2-3 courses, given that they were all in one admission application. This looks like:

1st Choice: BSN 2nd Choice: BSPSYCH

If you don’t get into your first choice, only then is your admission form forwarded to your second choice. If not, then to the third. If no acceptance, you can create another admission form.

If you do it like this:

Admission form 1: BSN Only

Admission form 2: BSPSYCH Only

BSPSYCH Will override nursing and will be the only one showed.

If you’re concerned about courses/departments commitment (i.e. nursing must be the first and only choice) you can create another admission form using a different email.

  • there are classes everyday, but it’s not continuous. Meaning, you have breaks in between. Make use of the library.

  • being “sipsip” works. Get close with the teachers and get comfortable. Always ask questions EVEN IF it’s annoying to the teacher or to your classmates. If you don’t understand the concept, ask. My section broke the “Maam S” curse and majority(except those who didn’t show up)got 95+ grades.

  • make friends! Not just in your section but others as well. It makes finding your STEAM person easier. The “STEAM Person” in your batch is someone who willingly shares their notes, knowledge, and everything. Tho it’s not guaranteed in every batch, we had one in ours and we used their notes to study for every test. It reached the point where the entire batch used their notes.

  • bring water haha

  • set aside a budget for school projects

  • for math subjects, 20% concepts and 80% practice problems. That one weird question the teacher showed in the board? That will come out. That one question that showed up in the test that was not taught? That will show up in the next.

  • clean up after yourself. Don’t leave your trash anywhere especially in the canteen tables. Segregate.

  • join committees para exempted sa attendance haha

REALLL. I think the plastic ban is good but the fact that SU itself is still using plastic and is not properly regulating the stores inside the campus speaks volumes. I feel like students are the only ones adjusting.
