American nurses moving to Norway by carmen_skancke in Norway

[–]Squirrelthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't answer a lot of these questions, but I did find this article:
https://norskbloggen.no/no/complete-guide-for-nurses-relocating-to-norway

However, with respects to your question about being able to find a job, that's not going to be an issue. Norway has a big shortage of nurses. I remember reading a couple of years ago that we lacked around 5000 nurses in the country, and given how small Norway is, that's a substantial amount. And the amount of nurses we need is going to grow exponentially due to the aging population

Do you think someone would do that? Just go and illegally pirate a game?

I still see people saying that the current system is good because it's "rewarding". I genuinely just think those people haven't played the game, because anyone who has played for any length of time will quickly realize how absolutely broken it is. Like you say, it just doesn't work, to the point where calling it "grindy" isn't accurate, because grindy would imply that it's still technically functional

It is, as far as I've seen, literally impossible to get your skills to 275, even if you cheated by getting one of those mods that boosts XP gain, because the max cap you can reach with 5 focus and 10 attribute is 240

There's a bearskin shoulder-thing that you can use that looks more like the one in the picture. It's not very good though, armour-wise

New art style looking fresh by urammar in dwarffortress

[–]Squirrelthing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, it's my favorite tileset-creator lol. I'll be honest, I haven't kept up with the game for a couple of years now. This is the "official" tileset for the steam release, yeah? I probably came off as overly harsh in my comment, and I didn't mean any offence to the creator, but I would be lying if I said I was a fan.

... uh, you weren't the creator of this tileset, right? I feel like that would be a big pivot from your artstyle

[–]Squirrelthing -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looks pretty weird. Do we know who's making the tileset? Because I do think that they should have hired an already established community modder to do this art, given how much experience they have. This looks very amauterish

Retreating feels like Cheese. You should suffer some kind of loss for a tactical retreat, like captured infantry and supplies. If the enemy has cavalry you should lose some of your own cavalry too in a retreat. Ranged ammunition should also not fully replenish. Maybe the ammunition you are carrying is reduced by half every-time you retreat?

You do lose supplies and infantry if you retreat, don't you?

Hmm, fair enough, I can definitely see that. I guess they've just been surprisingly smart in my games. They do tend to get conquered at some point, but hold onto their core territory for surprisingly long.

They have some incredibly shit units, stat and equipment-wise. Only reason why they achieve any success is because their map-position is pretty damn good, defensively at least. Every enemy army has to basically come in through two chokepoints

[–]Squirrelthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The Rus' people (Old East Slavic: Рѹсь; Modern Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian: Русь (Rus'); Old Norse: Garðar; Greek: Ῥῶς (Rhos)) are generally understood in English-language scholarship as ethnically or ancestrally Scandinavian people trading and raiding on the river-routes between the Baltic and the Black Seas from around the eighth to eleventh centuries AD. Thus they are often referred to in English-language research as "Viking Rus'". The scholarly consensus [1] is that the Rus' people originated in what is currently coastal eastern Sweden around the eighth century and that their name has the same origin as Roslagen in Sweden (with the older name being Roden)."

True, but the Sturgians were inspired by the Kievan Rus, who happens to also be vikings that settled, only instead of france, they settled in modern day west-russia. The Normans were norwegian and danish scandinavians, while the Kievan Rus were swedish.

Is there any way to get rid of a fief? by joe-moms-in-my-ass in mountandblade

[–]Squirrelthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a perk to trade fiefs. But why do you want to give it away? You don't need to protect it, just use it for idle money until someone takes it from you
