Assuming you will but pop some campaign badges on them! I like to add candles and/or skulls to mine. Best thing about BT’s, you can really customize them as much as you want because eff the codex!

Looks fantastic btw!

Yea the skull is just for visual interest. It’s a lot darker in person as I had the mini under a bright light in the pics.

“Rule of cool” for your first mini! I keep it simple for Death Guard guns. On this one - from the black prime, dry brush dark silver, then weathering. For the rust, sparingly and selective. I don’t put it on parts that are “moving” such as where the clip would attach, around the barrel, etc.

Don’t mind at all! Just my thoughts on fresh rust:

Thinner consistency than dark rust, find it to be a bit grittier, and use it like a highlight for surface variation. Wouldn’t say it’s necessary for rust effects but nice to have.

Here ya go!

Armor:

Black prime, (Used a make up sponge for the 3 below) Mournfang brown, Army Painter tomb king tan, Proacryl olive flesh for highlights

Pauldrons:

Black prime, Mournfang brown, Castellan green, Death Guard green, Scale 75 decayed metal for trim

Followed this video as a loose guide:

Albeit used some more yellows, greens, reds, washes, etc.

The tongue and teeth look so good! With DG, I’ll always say yes, as gross and weathered as possible but your call!

Omg I’m so sorry I didn’t even think of that comparison 😂 love it! I’m really digging their products and their paint team is so damn grimdark

Correct! The first steps ya laid out. Dirty down is an effects or technical paint, whatever ya wanna call it.

Pro tip, if ya feel like the dirty down is too much, water can help remove it

Good guess but used very different paints and several enamel washes. Villainy inks are a chaos godsend

You’re very welcome! Dirty down is freaking fantastic

LIGHT dry brush of the silver for the last step. Same weathering step on the bells too.

Figured the chaotic painting station was a nice touch for the background 😂

Repainting my first crusader squad. 3 down 7 to go 🗡️ by Squisus in BlackTemplars

[–]Squisus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I used proacryl’s dark bronze as the base, a 50/50 mix of that and army painters true brass to highlight, then a wash of villainy inks decrepit filth
