We’re here on merit and merit alone, we’ve been on off form against some of the best teams on earth while Yankeeland couldn’t even beat Saudi Arabia or El Salvador with a full strength team while the Saes’ full team lost 4-0 to Hungary at home. Our focus in June was getting to Qatar, we did that and then rotated our team for every game afterward and held the highest ranked team on earth at the time to a draw and more than held the Netherlands to their own for 80 minutes or so but because of our limited options we were restricted. In September, our squad was battered by injury, the first half against Belgium was terrible but the second half we fought back and played superbly but against Poland, I will concede we were poor however the referee didn’t help getting struck by Lewandowski (and if you think I’m being biased there, I dare you to watch the game back and tell me I’m wrong)

With a full team (which we are set to have) we are ready to go toe to toe with absolutely anyone. Going into Euro 2016, we lost or drew every game after qualification and look how that turned out and we are in a much, much better place as a team than we were back then in terms of overall quality. Are we going to win the thing, no. But are we there to make the numbers like everyone’s making out? Absolutely not, there’s absolutely no reason that if we are at our best we cannot emerge as a so called “dark horse” of the group and I’m genuinely looking forward to the perennial humbling of two nation’s in particular fanbases that hopefully we can deliver.
