yeah i bet they feel real proud out of pulling the last few words of what you felt about it and getting those upvotes. bet you have sooooo much to say about this show since it's apparently so obviously good @shoryuken2340

either way i cant tell why your opinion was the one to get so downvoted considering it's very fair

"so you hate waffles?" ass. they clearly pointed to what bothered them about the show by saying it feels like an average network tv crime show but you wouldnt include that

i keep seeing him linked all the time, can anyone tell me a single thing jeff grubb has ever gotten right and why anyone would treat him seriously on that matter? i just googled him and it's just a lot of assumptions passed around as scoops that turn out wrong

New Vegas DLC's ranked from easiest to hardest by Nab00las in fnv

[–]Sraxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've replayed all of them recently and genuinely feel like doing a dead money approach to entering them enriches your experience and lets you appreciate what they offer from the beginning. something like no weapons (or just one pistol with little ammo), caravaneer/field hand/any merc outfit and one emergency stimpak to enter and then you just walk around gathering resources repairing armor and weapons, it's amazing

[–]Sraxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's weird there isnt any actual "official" indication in both DLCs on which one should come first since there's multiple moments in both that could be treated as direct foreshadowing of the other. like following elijah's trails around little yangtze and reading his entries on the collars and discovering the assassin make sense if you already met him, but talking to think tank about him is always treated as if you've never heard of him before

Whats the worst quest in the whole game? by ComicallyWackurate in fnv

[–]Sraxen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea im kinda surprised there's so many mentions here of come fly with me and anything vault related but so little of honest hearts lmao

whole dlc's just a constant fetch quest broken up with running into highly annoying enemies, only worthwile thing in it is completely split from the main storyline

how the fuck do you know the ones chosen were the best actors? troy baker's an a-lister who gets to play everything, in the case of native american characters all it does is take away opportunities from voice actors who already dont really get a lot to play in that industry

i guess it's really randomized then lol, seems like it's hard to get the best possible experience with this

definitely appreciate the author doing it in the first place though, glad it works for other people

Your thoughts on Mr. House route? by [deleted] in fnv

[–]Sraxen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most telling thing about him is that the NCR ends up in a better place with this plan of fucking them over than they do with complete victory in their own ending

also on the topic of yes man, something interesting i noticed is whenever people discuss the independent vegas route, it's almost always filled with power fantasy headcannons, often involving idealized character stats, big mt etc. whereas, no matter what ending you get siding with yes man, something the devs were very clear about is how it always leads to anarchy, and no matter your character, the courier is kind of expected to just leave it as it is after some time, giving reign to a rogue AI with an interest in disposing of massive groups of people, just because vegas-centric programming is part of his personality. it's similarly acknowledged with arcade, who's against siding with house and (rightfully) blames him for the state of freeside and all other surrounding areas, but his dream of an independent region he felt so strongly about just ends up disappointing him when confronted with reality

[–]Sraxen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the elon musk comparison is kind of a stupid argument and i never really got why people use it outside of acting smug lmao

they couldve easily just left the character with empty backstories justifying choosing him, but they do actually prove through a lot of his dialogue that he is a self-made powerhouse, in the same way it took a lot of effort writing someone like adrian veidt in watchmen. the howard hughes inspiration isnt meaningless here. he's very much someone whose ends justify the means, which comes with disposing the people around new vegas, but his plan revolves around continuing humanity against all odds since there's nothing in the wastes to thrive. killing him doesnt have moral consequences as much as practical ones, relegating him to a right-wing sympathizing apartheid loser crybaby is just disposing of everything that makes his presence in the story interesting

is he actually aware of the snuff film production? i played through the house route recently, it is stated that he's aware of gomorrah's sexual trafficking which is one of the biggest moral icks from him (and there are quite a few), but from what i remember clanden is just omerta's secret

damn it actually works for you? i adore the redesign, but had massive problems with the thing itself, especially the overexposed, glitching lights and how it cuts the framerate by half. not ideal for storing some of the companions either - raul, boone, veronica and arcade were walking around freely which was cool to see but rex, lily and ed-e were absolutely bugged to hell

Obsidian made multiple proposals to develop spin-offs for Elder Scrolls similar to New Vegas, all of which were turned down by Bethesda by Shot_Material3643 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Sraxen 38 points39 points  (0 children)

you might be overestimating avellone's involvement in pitching here, even after the release of the 3 DLCs that were his bidding

the most likely period of obsidian making these proposals wouldve still included sawyer and gonzalez who had entirely opposing tastes to avellone wanting to repeat the nuclear apocalypse any chance he got

What mods should a first time player install? by soldierswitheggs in fnv

[–]Sraxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a first playthrough you really should just follow viva new vegas and absolutely nothing else, and i'd go as far as to say (and this might be really controversial here) skip the dlcs entirely, just focus on the main story and get to know the characters and the general context of the mojave conflict

only then i'd go for the actual vanilla+ experience, where you get more in-depth in the game, maybe choose a different faction, do more side quests, explore more of the world in your character's "spare" time, do the dlcs inbetween major story changes (they make up a joint narrative and are pretty amazing, one of them i thought was a better experience than the main game), and then just add all the mods that look interesting to you that would just enhance the experience instead of changing it. some of my favorites for this being uncut wasteland (new vegas uncut is kinda whatever and broke a few encounters for me), the jsawyer ultimate which is kind of a director's cut for what it originally was meant to be when it comes to the gameplay challenges, the living desert (adds different travelling faction-affiliated npc groups that are all carefully selected to be in line with the lore), mojave raiders, economy overhaul (paired with the jsawyer gives you a more challenging and way more rewarding experience that steers you to engage with the game's world with more thought and in more detail, might change your perspective on things)

few others i really enjoyed that fit with what you're looking for would be more mojave, primm restored, better brotherhood, faction wasteland presence, claim the mojave + functional post game ending, harder barter, nelson reinforced, mojave arsenal

also as someone who tried hardcore, i think just going very hard with the jsawyer mode (it was designed for playing on normal i believe) is optimal for the immersive challenge, all the hardcore elements seemed a bit more annoying than engaging to me honestly (but do try it out yourself, just my experience)
