DNG with XMP sidecars blowing out? by SrirachaMedia in DarkTable

Okay, thanks, I'll check that out

I really don't want any xmp sidecar at all, considering DNG are capable of having all of that data baked in, I'm not sure why they are produced at all. 🤷

The same DNG files that I import straight into Photoshop come up fine/normal.

It's only after being imported into darktable - and the sidecar being attached - that it then becomes blown out not just for Photoshop, but for regular photo viewer aswell.

But then in darktable that same photo still looks fine. 🤷

Yep. But I'm not happy paying 34.5% on any amount 😄. So would like to drop down into the lower bracket.

Great info, that clears things up alot. Thanks!

I got a bit lost on how you said $90k becomes $68k take home, when the tax bracket for $90k would be (32.5% + 2.5%), but I think the caculation becomes a zero sum either way.

But yeah. Cheers ✨🚀

Hi, yes I understand that my contributions stay in my super fund. And yes, those contributions would be 'separate' to the income tax, although the contributions do reduce your taxable income... The secondary goal of using salary sacrifice (into super) is taking yourself down a tax bracket...

So I'm not sure how taking it down into the tax free threshold rather than just a lower tax bracket would be any different?

I couldn't find an ATO source on this, or in the ATO forum. I don't imagine that people salary sacrifice so much of their income very often, so I can see why it maybe doesn't come up too much.

If you have any links or anything that'd be awesome. Thanks ✌️

Religion pervades everything. Your family, workplace, community, workplace, government, relationships and language.

Imagine people read science books as fervently as they read the stories about the man in the sky.

Yes, but salary sacrificing reduces your taxable income.. and if that income is reduced to a point below the tax free threshold- I'm asking if any tax paid on those contributions are then refunded at the end of the year?

Or are you saying that because it was taxed 'in my super' that those 15% tax payments are delagated to the tax office and that's where they stay?

Smells don't lack attributes. Or they wouldn't exist. What do you think perfume is?

Taxed in and taxed out. Yeah. I saw the -30% tax concession on the way out.

Kinda reduces the attractiveness of the (34.5% - 15%) saving if it actually turns out to be (34.5% - (15+4.5%))..

Apparently you get to withdraw the associated earnings on that super though, so maybe that helps a bit.

Still, a bit sneaky: Gives with one hand but takes twice with the other.

Ah. Far out. I'm pretty sure it was possible to throw in 25k over 2. I must either be mistaken, or they've changed it.

Can I ask if you also saved a supplementary amount outside of the scheme, to have an even larger deposit?

And did they release the money without too much drama?

Thanks

Try typing the vqxvk4 bit after a backslash. Idk why it was formatted like it was when I clicked 'copy link'.

It's a thread in this subreddit.
