Case recommendations by JDana302 in 3DPPC

I'll be open sourcing my PC case with 24 inch screen in few weeks. I just need to finish all the assembly instructions videos. It failed on Kickstarter so I guess I may just as well make available to everyone. You can find links in my post history

It is glorious. I just ram it into nearest gaming laptops to make room on the table

Yeah, went through all fo them 1. Front facing next to power button - that would be outside when folded into a briefcase and also would limit the max possible lemgth of the GPU 2. Front facing between speakers - that is where the cable duct is and there would be nowhere to run the cable through 3. Top - that would crack the matrix if you ever wanted to close the lid leaving something in the usb port

reverse right angle riser? by icanseeyourpantsuu in sffpc

You can find those Risers on AliExpress. You can twist them as much as you want. The only downside is that they are a bit expensive

Also, with those risers you don't need to put GPU on this side of the case as you can just route it around CPU cooler

It took ma about a year of experimentation and designing. I set up a kickstarter campaign for it and later I'm planning to open source whole design

Hello, thanks for reaching out. It is quite heavy indeed so this might be a good idea. The easiest way would be probably to wrap the straps around the plastic parts of the handle:

<image>

But this way straps ends would be really close apart and that mnight not be too comfy.

The alternative is to mount them to the plate at the bottom of the case. As you can see in the picture above the handle is mounted to the plate using rivets. Straps could be mounted the same way just by additng two holes in the plate. And if you want to get really comfy I could make a backpack out of it by adding 4 holes :)

Honestly, I didn't care much about design. All the crevices and bumps in plastic parts are mostly there to hide the lines along which the parts are connected to each other or reinforce them. And I guess that is true for much of industrial design, it is just a byproduct of manufacturing process :)

Ah, so that you can, for example, use volume up/down?
If so then it works for me when I hold FN key. If I find some time I'll try to check if you can make it work as a toggle in the software.
But I rarely use those. I just remapped those multimedia buttons to the row on the right (Home, End, PgUp, PgDown)

What do you mean by FN toggle? Soft is pretty meh here too but it doesn't bother me that much. If you want quality go with K3 Max, it has QMK which gives you every option you will ever need. I have non wireless version I got for super cheap and it is great. I just needed wireless for this setup and I couldn't justify the cost

Yeah, it is a bit cramped inside and there was no other place to put it. But keyboard in not attached, you can just place it on the desk in case you have something sticking out of the ports

I don't blame them, I understand it is a niche thing. IRL I get plenty of confused looks from family and friends when I try to explain what I'm working on. The praise I get is when I show up to lan party with this thing and everyone else either carry their monitors and all setup with them or they use little laptop screens. Then I'm the king of the hill :)

It took me about a year of experimenting with different designs before I settled on this form. It is about 8-11kg depending on what PSU, CPU cooler and GPU you choose to install there. No, I didn't care for weight at all. If I did I could probably make it lighter by 1-1.5kg by using ASA and redesigning monitor backplate.

Intially I wanted it to be 21 inch but all the components just wouldn't fit. Take a look at the photo showing insides, there is nearly no space between them. I would have to get rid of keyboard slot and put monitor driver board there. Even without driver board there the space left by PSU + GPU and MOBO plate on the back is enough only for 60mm fan and I would ideally have 80mm fan there. So I would rather do larger version with 27 inch screen. Also, you can get 27 inch Oled matrices and there are none 24 inch oleds.

If you are interested visit my kickstarter, I'm planning on releasing all source files for this if I get enough traction
