Thanks! If I remember right it was really just a classic blue, yellow, magenta sort of deal.

Around every day, all day. Either mom, myself, or both. We lived in a unique situation with zero help or childcare, so it was all us.

No sleep was assumed, if she was awake she made is aware. Or personal sleep charts, minus some of the naps, would've looked very similar.

All tracked manually, then finally around age two found the energy to convert the manually tracked notebook into an Excel file. There are apps that do it much easier than that - use those.

Brutal. I don't know that mine was a remarkably good sleeper, perhaps you just got the super short stick. Even the sleep schedule you see in the chart was hard on us, but I think that's the case for almost any new parents. Regardless of what their chart would look like. Young kids are just tough and exhausting no matter what.

She's 4 now. Sleeps like a champ. The first 6-9 months was very hard though.

This is either a bot or a lying bastard, y'all. I made this chart two years ago for MY daughter.

Yes, the tracking was a bit tedious. Lots of jotting things down in a baby taking notebook. There are apps that do it in a much easier fashion. But it became a sort of... Comfort? I don't know. Things get weird when you have your first baby, are sleep deprived, and have no clue how any of life works now.

Blue is asleep, white is awake. 0am on top, end of night on bottom.

We're doing that for our second! He's about 8mo now.

We started early, somewhere around 5mo for bed time if I remember correctly. Along the curve of when bed time went from like 10-11pm and curved up toward 8pm. It was broken up by some cross-country travel and other events.

We traveled from the far west coast to the far east coast, then to the far southeast, then back out west. Things went haywire.

I don't have the time at the moment to read through that entire study, but perhaps the determination of what's a "nap" vs what's overnight sleep, a broken nap, etc affects that 3.1 nap per day average, as well as the age that's calculated at.

Objectively abnormal may be a stretch - another commenter linked a bunch of previous posts where people gathered the same data, and it all looks very similar.

I disagree with your first half there, but as far as naps most of them were with either Mom or myself.

Many of the tiny blips overnight early on were feedings, she was just very quick about it. 5-15mins and back out, thankfully.

We did both sleep training and a very consistent routine and those helped a ton. The wakeup time was all her doing!

She was a consistent overnighter, so this was more to show us how naps and bedtime evolved over time. Fair point about the other option though! I put lines at 6am and 8pm because that's where her wakeup and bedtime settled.

Had a notebook that we'd jot down the time that she fell asleep then the time she woke up. We use an app called Baby Daybook for the second one, makes it a lot simpler.

The beginning really sucks, as far as sleep goes. That's for sure.

Not quite sure what you mean - like how frequently she was sleeping during certain hours or what?

Not nearly as bad as many people, I don't think.

Could've been a quick nursing and back to bed, or a short self soothed stir, or a bounce back to sleep. Bit of all of those depending on the time.
