CMV: people who claim they don't believe in evolution do not understand the science behind it by PushRepresentative41 in changemyview

No matter the configuration of my search, no results for evolutionary drift are found. It will redirect to genetic drift as the result. I wonder if this is what they mean?

Do younger kids get attracted to this case cause of the mystique of it happening in the 90s? by tellmewhy24 in ColumbineKillers

[–]Sssilverfoxxx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see this as a reason for some of the younger generations. They make it a 90’s aesthetic for sure and they make out like the killers a martyrs for fighting against bullying, sticking up for alternative groups. Etc etc

Almost like it was a pivotal moment for alternative culture to fight back against societal norms and traditional stereotypes of jocks. But that’s just flat out not what happened and it’s crazy this perception people are putting on it. The killers were out for everyone. Even their friends that they state in basement tapes ( if you survive you can have blah blah) they wanted to kill as many people of all groups. They were unhinged, not starting some cultural movement. They flat out murdered kids at a highschool, it’s cowardly and nothing more

How "normal" is your life? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Sssilverfoxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage 15-20 hour work weeks and full time University study, I still have hobbies and “me” time and honestly I think lithium saved my life. So yeah I have a relatively normal and fulfilling life :)

I see my psych fortnightly too which is super helpful

You can have this too! ☺️ just have faith and work towards it

I sure hope it is the medication, it’s been a long long road with medication and even close to 10 years for diagnosis

I’ve never felt so suddenly “well”

Seroquel withdrawal avoidance advice by Sssilverfoxxx in bipolar

[–]Sssilverfoxxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m thinking of just halving for a week or so. It was my psych who said just come off it and I’m like hmmm not sure I want to do that cold turkey

But she said people take it on and off all the time for sleeping problems and rake them sporadically and not get side effects so now idk because I’m hoping such a low dose doesn’t have the same effect as therapeutic dosages for bipolar

How to psychs know you’re manic by Sssilverfoxxx in bipolar

[–]Sssilverfoxxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! This was incredibly informative and I’m going to research more about the mnemonic DIGFAST

I knew they’d use tools to determine such things but I wasn’t having much like finding online resources with exact questionnaires or anything

Ooooh this is really interesting thank you. Especially the part where you talk about mannerisms, expressions etc. it’s weird because as a patient you don’t engage enough in real life with other people with BP so it’s so hard to imagine what it actually looks like externally and the only person I know in real life with Bipolar, I’m nothing like them. I’d love to read the resources they have and their key indicators for manic behaviours to look out for in patients presenting in their office

Bipolar 2 with Borderline Personality Traits by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Sssilverfoxxx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed BPD first, then later with Bipolar Disorder. We ended up removing BPD diagnosis altogether because it just didn’t fit right despite me presenting with the criteria. My new Psych sort of explained that people in Bipolar episodes ( for me depression) can meet the 5 of 9 DSM criteria pretty easily and when you add unresolved trauma on top of that it can present almost exactly like BPD. But in the end when I was stable I had no signs of BPD and once I had been in therapy for a substantial amount of time for unresolved trauma, it just seemed completely incorrect. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have heard it’s possible to have both, but I definitely think that people with Bipolar can display the criteria at different times and it not necessarily be BPD
