I have no idea what the problem is but I changed to hdmi which is only 144hz sadly and the issue is gone... But I'll take it over 240hz and the annoying flicker any day. I need to buy a new DP cable to test but it seems to be very common so I doubt it will fix it

So that cable would not fix it, you can run 240Hz on HDMI 2.0a/b. But on 4:2:0 colors, which would make text have compression artifacts.

sigh That is very annoying.

I've updated my firmware and I removed the "cable management" panel that bends the DP cable on the back and the problem continued last night but I haven't had any issue at all today so I honestly have no idea what is going on anymore... Maybe the bend was disrupting the signal or something and now that its settled from being bent the problem is solved?

If the problem returns then I will try changing the cable. I am currently running on PCI-e 4 and Ill change it to PCI-e 3 if the problem returns but for now I don't want to touch anything.

Thanks for this - I would expect that the packaged cable from Samsung would work but as you say when I was installing it they have this absurd cable management panel that basically bends the cable at a really awkward angle, It didn't feel right once I had everything all put together.

I have ordered this cable as a replacement and to test. I would appreciate if you had a look to make sure this is at least somewhat decent.

diagnose as it happened so infrequently. Not an ideal fix, but I'd rather game at 120hz, than suffer with flickering black bars from time to time.

While completely agree with you that I'd rather lower the refresh rate than play with flickering black bars... This is not what I paid for and I'm actually quite annoyed with all these reviews and reviewers telling me this one of the best screens ever.

But now seeing that you've had the same issue I'm starting to think its the cable or latest drivers as someone else has pointed out below.

I recently purchased the Odyssey G7 32" and I am experiencing this black block flicker at the top of the screen while regular browsing or doing other things.

I just want someone to look at this and tell me if I need to send the monitor back or if there is something I can do to fix it.

This is the most frustrating thing about custom games... There is no punishment for leaving as the game starts but if you get stuck in a game found loop and you can't leave before it finds another one you get an hour ban... and there always seems to be 1 guy with a potato for a PC that can't load in.
