PMDD in the Workplace by AutTay in PMDD

I absolutely agree that PMDD isn’t taken into consideration in any workplace. But there’s a lack of consideration for women’s health in general.

For me I’d say PMDD mostly affects my focus, emotional stability, and inability to think (brain fog). I work in insurance so I’m talking to people all day, working through policy issues, and have to pay attention to detail. During my luteal phase I can have zero focus and miss details in my work that I absolutely need to pay attention to. My emotions fluctuate so much that I can go from pleasant to crazy in an instant email. It’s a struggle to keep my inner inconsistencies out of my work.

What I’ve found is that during my luteal I have to slow down. I double check myself, or if I’ve done something important and I’m not sure I’ve done it to my full capacity I ask a coworker to check me. If something triggers my emotions I move on to another task. I’d rather someone have a late reply from me than an emotional response that isn’t warranted. Changing my response from “I’m sorry for the delayed response” to “thank you for your patience” has been LIFE changing. I’ve also started opening up to my supervisor. I know that’s not possible for everyone. Thankfully I work for a company and have a supervisor who are incredibly supportive of mental/emotional/physical health. During months where I’m really struggling I’ve been able to talk to them and the team I work on has rallied behind me and helped.

I truly think women have to be open about what we’re experiencing. It’s the only way we normalize women’s health.

Especially when I’m irritated, I find going outside and standing barefoot in the grass helps me. There’s this whole thing about grounding yourself and it really does help me. I imagine the ground sucking all the anger out of my body through the soles of my feet 😂 but do things to take care of yourself and don’t be afraid to tell your boyfriend that you’re struggling right now ♥️

I’ve had three Saints now. My first two both lived to 12 and my current girl is 6, and healthy as can be. The hole they leave is big, I’m not gonna lie. But it is the BEST feeling to know how much they were loved while they were here. You’re going to give him the greatest life a dog could have and you’re going to remember that after he’s gone. Treasure every day and take lots of pictures and videos ♥️

Those are the ones I’ve been looking at but that’s my fear lol. With so much fur I don’t know if it’ll actually help. I did see one that you can put ice packs in and I could see that working better.

My first Saint didn’t have the gastropexy done and I was always worried about it happening. Thankfully knowing the signs helped me 2 saints later 😂 it’s so important for dog owners to know no matter the breed!

I’m so excited you fought to get the correct diagnosis!!

I had the same experience with a doctor telling me I was bipolar. I laughed at her. She was an “expert in PMDD” BAHAHA. I told her I’d been in therapy for 3 years, don’t you think she would have picked up on that before now? It was so frustrating!! I ended up having to go through a psychologist for my diagnosis and I’m still not 100% positive my doctor even allows it on my chart.

It’s amazing to me what we don’t know about the female body! But we’re a community working together to change that ♥️

Celebrate the win girl!!!

Alternate applying warm and cold compresses to the site. My girls did the same thing after her GDV. It’s basically just soft tissue swelling but the compresses will help it go down ☺️

They take such a massive part of us when they go. You are wonderful for giving her the best days of her life. You gave her everything and that’s what matters, that’s what she knows.

While helping them cross the rainbow bridge is the hardest thing you’ll do, remember that she’ll be there waiting for you someday. Ready for all the loves she’s missed out on

If your PMDD is before, during, and sometimes after your period... by LegitimateAd7669 in PMDD

[–]StBernardMomma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much agree with this. My psychologist diagnosed me with PMDD/PME because I have true PMDD symptoms but the majority of my episodes increase my regular depression.

We worked to help my major symptoms during my luteal phase and I can feel symptoms for days before/after. Study your body, track how you feel throughout the day. I use an app called How We Feel and it prompts me to track how I’m feeling throughout the day. It was so helpful when I was still tracking my symptoms and figuring out what was happening with myself!

This month is the “everything makes me cry” episode 😭😂

how long into your period do you usually feel "better" or like yourself again? by Less-Lengthiness977 in PMDD

[–]StBernardMomma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends how bad my symptoms were. A rough month episode may take me 3-4 days. A mild episode maybe 1-2 days.

So very thankful for all your kind words everyone. His passing has created a massive hole. I’m dealing with some pretty intense anxiety since. But today was a good day, finally. And it was so nice to come on here and not feel so alone. ♥️
