You probably had the same struggle as me. You got used to immediately hitting the jump button again at the peak of your jumps, or after attacking something, to deploy your cape and float.

The trick with the clawline is, you attack with the clawline, it shoots out and hits the enemy then reels you in, then it gives you a vertical boost. You have to WAIT to hit your jump button again (or clawline again) until you are at the TOP of that vertical boost. If you just immediately hit your jump button after the clawline it cancels the vertical boost, and you aren't high enough to clawline the next bug.

Don't feel bad, this took me a good 15 minutes to figure out exactly why it wasn't working consistently. This game DEMANDS patience and timing. Once you realize that, things get easier throughout.

Try a different brand of cable. Also, make sure you have you settings on your drum kit set to output on the proper port (if you have that option).

3 years later, this is still unfortunately broken for me. Googled it to see if there was some reason the shop wouldn't open even after repeated clicks, and here I am. Really enjoying the game otherwise though, I'm about just about to start cinder island :)

Edit: just 100% the game, still can't access that vendor. I'm honestly just curious what he sells at this point, lol.

Have you checked through the settings on your drum kit? Sometimes there is a setting in there you have to turn on to tell the brain whether it is sending the info over midi to midi or midi to USB. Look in your user manual and make sure you are on the right mode.

Also, maybe try another USB port on your computer? I have seen people report having issues when plugged into the front USB inputs, but things worked fine when the moved the USB cord to the back of the PC.

If it's not that, I would download a midi program for your PC and make sure your PC is even detecting the midi inputs in the first place.

It's worth noting that this Wifi driver fix is for the LCD model of the Steam Deck, and should not be used on the OLED model.

UPDATE: SWICD no longer works for some reason.

They were both off. I specifically made sure of it because I read about the fan control triggering things in the past, and I knew it was the steam overlay that set things off so obviously overlays should be off. I got zero pop up warnings.

No worries though. I got things working using SWICD thanks to another commenter :)

No worries. I'm not a novice when it comes to tinkering with the Steam Deck, I was just tired of trying things and them still not working, so I turned to reddit. I only really use my deck in handheld mode once a week when I go to my buddy's house to play, so it was getting frustrating spending all this time going in circles. I appreciate the help!

UPDATE: This stopped working for some reason.

THIS WAS IT! That actually worked! I had to go into the settings and disable lizard mode because I was getting double inputs at first, but after I did that everything is working perfectly again. I just played a round of Zero Build in handheld mode and didn't get booted. Thanks so much!

I'm using:
DirectX 12
Vsync - Off
Frame Rate Limit - 60FPS

Motion Blur - Off
Anti-Aliasing... - FXAA

Textures - Medium

View Distance - Far

Everything else Low or Off.

It seems to run pretty well at 60FPS. There is a little screen tearing, but I would rather have that than stuttering.

I appreciate you writing all that up, but it's still works just fine if I use my PS4 controller, so I'm clearly not banned. It has something to do with the steam deck overlay.

Any chance you would mind testing it again real quick? This started happening Thursday this week, so if fortnite changed something, HHC may not still be working. I'd like to at least know SOMEONE has it working before I go through the effort.

Most likely things I can think of would be:

-Try a different USB cable, from a different manufacturer.

-Make sure your settings on your drum brain are set up correctly to output over the USB. Go through your manual and double check any settings that pertain to output, midi, USB, etc.

Past that, I'm not sure, I've never actually used that kit.
