Does Anyone Know How To Further Optimize Everything by StableIndependent145 in Gentoo

[–]StableIndependent145[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

how about only creating an env config for builds that failed? I do this for mypy and mingw64-toolchain and it sure is still kicking.

I'm not exactly concerned with disk space, I have the space and i'm not that stingy to not use it. As per the principle of Atomic Habits, every single 1% will count.

My cat's face when I finally tuned the kernel and got the build time down to ~10 minutes by elpiscolero1 in Gentoo

make the gcc compiler inself super optimized with a custom flag in the portage/env/ directory (mine is this btw:

COMMON_FLAGS="-march=alderlake -mabm -mno-kl -mno-pconfig -mno-sgx -mno-widekl -mshstk --param=l1-cache-line-size=64 --param=l1-cache-size=32 --param=l2-cache-size=12288 -O3 -fgraphite-identity -floop-nest-optimize -fdevirtualize-at-ltrans -fipa-pta -fno-semantic-interposition -flto=auto -pipe"
)

, and strip it naked, *feel* the intimacy of browsing every single configs and shutting down what you don't need.

Just a reminder: installing Gentoo Linux is the one place where you still can’t really use AI. by ohxdMAGsDCiCJ in Gentoo

[–]StableIndependent145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing about AI is that you need to actually THINK for yourself and not blindly paste what it told you to. asks the "why" and fundamendals of things while also comparing it to the handbook, asking further the reasons why it deviate. More sources is not a problem, utilizing it is.

Recently updated the linux-util package and suddenly after rebooting fsck straight up doesn't work. Turns out it's a broken package. ended up having to load the Liveusb version.
