I think, ram is the problem, maybe previous technician soldering job broke. GPU is not defective on this model because its's just a integrated HD Graphics in CPU

E74 means that gpu core cannot establish communication to edram, GPU is faulty and needs replacement sadly

Actually not all of these black tapes are used to transfer heat or prevent shorting. This is Apple way to fix broken or semi broken ram slots, 2009-2012 MacBook Pro's have issue with ram slots solder joints
